AutoWeek names CTS-V Coupe “Best of the Best”

Publication selects Cadillac as best new car for 2011

DETROIT – AutoWeek has selected the CTS-V Coupe as its 2011 Best of the Best Car, placing the Cadillac at the top of the class of new or significantly redesigned cars for the 2011 model year.

AutoWeek editors graded new vehicles on drivetrain, ride quality, handling, exterior and interior design and fun factor. The CTS-V Coupe received the most points overall in the car category.

The award was announced today on the AutoWeek website and will appear in the January 10 issue of the magazine.

AutoWeek editors noted the CTS-V Coupe’s dramatic design and also praised the Cadillac for providing both power and refinement. One editor called it the “best Cadillac ever.”

“The car is stiff and set up to handle well, but Cadillac has found an intriguing mix of performance and ride quality that places this creation in a category of its own,” another editor wrote. “It’s quite something to behold.”

The CTS-V Coupe features a supercharged 6.2-L V8 engine delivering 556-horsepower and a Magnetic Ride Control suspension system that can read and react to the road in milliseconds. The CTS Coupe and CTS-V Coupe, part of Cadillac’s high-performance V-Series line, were both introduced in the second half of last year for the 2011 model year.

“The AutoWeek Best of the Best award affirms what we thought at Cadillac when we launched the CTS-V Coupe,” said Don Butler, vice president for Cadillac marketing. “The CTS-V Coupe represents the pinnacle of Cadillac design and performance. It has a design that turns heads and a driving experience that rivals the best luxury sports cars in the world.”

There is a Cadillac dealer not far from me selling the V coupe, and they are saying for one of thier customers they increased the horsepower to 700hp. They did not go into how they did it, but if it is true.......

This is what Jesse last used to get 600RWHP outta CTS-V Coupe:
Full 4inch cold air kit with polished lightweight aluminum tube.
Ported blower, snout, throttlebody.
Eaton solid supercharger issolator
Heat exchanger
9.5 pulley kit with new belts, bolts.
Idler needed with upgraded bearings for higher speed.
Cam, gear and bolts
Heavy duty matched 680 lift max dual springs with titanium retainers and heavy duty locks



Everybody seems to agree to get any more requires bigger injectors and a bunch more internal work.

Just can not help but say this, I haven't been able to use all the horsepower I have on either one of my cars. Where would you drive in this country to use it all?

I plan on using mine at the next BobFest.

It goes back to the Moonshine days. Does anyone remember the movie Thunder Road ? No matter how hot the car is someone will always want to make theres hotter.

This cadillac CTS-V Coupe is one Hot car.

OK, I can understand putting the car on a track to see how fast you can go. When I was young and growing up Illinois speed limit was reasonable and proper, no number speed limit, wish it was still that way in all the states, then we could use the horsepower as much as we want. I can remember driving from Washburn to Peoria getting up to 110. That was fun.

If I remember correctly, we did rather push the envelope on the way to San Antonio from Las Cruces a couple years ago... And yes, it was fun!!!

Not sure my poor old ticker can stand that, you know I have had three by-passes already.

Next time your up for a visit, we can take the Shelby out for a run.
