Default Welding

Was wondering if anybody has had to do any welding on the xlr. I've heard how touchy the computer and sensors are in the car wondering if any special procedures have to be done. Like disconnect batt. Or even modules? Situation is need to tack some exhaust pieces, then I'll remove to finish. Don't want anything to move in removal. Bigger I don't want to fry any of the " space shuttle".

Wanted to inform any one about welding on the xlr. After researching and calling a couple muffler shops about procedures on welding on the car. Was told should leave the batt. Connected first to not loose any settings. The batt. Should act like a sponge if theirs any spike within the system. Unless you plan on disconnecting ALL modules because they are all connected via grounds theirs no point. Was told that today's modules have " blockers" that control or block any surges. Only precautions to take is put ground straps as close to weld as possible and even put another to isolate welding area. Was told that this only applies for dc power and tig high frequency has to much voltage. After doing a lot of praying I sucked it up and did what I had to do and let me tell you didn't have ANY problem's. After finishing took the car for a ride and haven't had any problem's.

Thanks for the report... I'm not planning on having any welding done, but you never know.

I had to weld in a bulkhead fitting into the exhaust system for my A/F ratio gauge. Made sure that all was grounded and battery disconnected. All AOK
