Site Update: 2004 - 2009 Cadillac XLR: Service Bulletin: #10-08-52-004: Diag Info on No Remote Detected/No Fobs Detected Message on DIC/El

Looking at all these recently posted bulletins, I want to say THANK YOU to Rob for getting these & putting them on here. If you have a problem they cover they’re invaluable - & otherwise not so easy/free to find.

    Manufacturer of xlr roof assembly

If I recall correctly, Car Top Systems set up a satellite location near the BG plant solely for the purpose of manufacturing the XLR tops. When the XLR stopped being manufactured, they packed up and moved on. My guess is no one there is going to be interested in helping with the XLR, but it...

    Manufacturer of xlr roof assembly

It was made by a German company called Car Top Systems. If you google “Car Top Systems”, you’ll find it was bought out by Magna International in 2005 and is now called Magna Car Top Systems. Looks like you might find contact info for that co. if you work through the google results. Good luck!

    Roof dents

Bill - I remembered seeing info on this on the forum years ago so I knew how to search for it (did google advanced search, this site only, all these words: paint mark). Here’s a link to a thread (and there are other links listed in posts within the thread, you REALLY should click those)...

Hope everyone on here has a Happy Thanksgiving - and that no giant turkeys fall on your XLR! (no XLR’s or turkeys were harmed in the making of this photo)

    Trunk light

In all honesty, I don’t understand this approach. tloukatis, I’m sure you have knowledge to share and be helpful, rather than rooting out posts going back a year plus so you can tell the OP they’re an idiot. That’s no more productive than the folks who forget to update what solutions they may...

Summer 2019: GM parts backorder issue

I appreciate that explanation from someone with both the background and as a XLR owner, and it makes sense from a business economics standpoint. I do wish that, at a minimum, they would release the patents for the headlights and taillights, which I understand is part of the problem with...

    Help! Dash delaminating

Thanks! In trade for that, you might find this video useful: YouTube. It shows how to stretch the dash leather with a heat gun; that then gluing might do the trick. Happy to let you be the guinea pig! ;)

Maybe try smcautoparts.com, they tend so have some XLR stuff.

    Help! Dash delaminating

Ours is starting to come up at the same place as Fireducks. While I can’t speak to the first 5 years of its life, since we’ve had it’s been in a garage that has heat & AC, hasn’t been driven much (unfortunately), & we use a windshield screen when it’s parked outside. From my research this...

    UNAVAILABLE DISCONTINUED PARTS

DON’T FEEL SPECIAL - it’s not just XLR’s anymore I did some checking around & verified this - GM is no longer making parts for 2013 Cadillac models. The two examples I know of are the SRX and Escalade. Not exactly low production speciality vehicles, but there’s still a new parts problem...

    15th year BG plant homecoming reunion Sept 26 - 28 2018

Wow guys, can’t believe it’s been a year since our reunion! What a good time that was. Mike & I miss you all!

    Headlight repair service?

Originally, no, but as the years pass there are starting to be reports on here about it happening to ‘06 & ‘07 at a minimum. Replacing the DRL’s with LED’s - detailed on a thread on here - is a must do upgrade. A lower tech preventative is to keep your headlights on when you drive (just...

Nice day for a car show here. Benefitted Honor and Remember for those killed in combat. Also got the benefit of the air show away at the base as the jets were turning around over us.

WTF he couldn't find another spot?

Same luck, different car. Empty lot but bozo parks right behind my trunk at a grocery store where duhh, I need to get to it to put groceries in.

Follow up with Z8 spray on black & it will look like glass. The Z8 is pricey to me but way worth it. The black car in front has the full Zaino treatment + Z8. The red car in my signature is also done with Zaino.

Yay, Charles came around to the right side! :chuckle

Cam actuator Magnets and harness connectors

Don’t know about parts availability but those are common leak areas & those price quotes are about right. We had to have a similar repair on our XLR-V at about 20k miles (8-9 years old), & on the base at about 40k (probably needed it done sooner). Northstars leak oil to mark their territory...
