Sounds like a great adventure. Here’s a good starting point on how the top is supposed to work.
These are also notorious for fried top control modules. It is in the left side cubby-hole in the trunk which can flood and short out electronics. The body looks like an amalgamation of various...
You just need to replace the gas struts that hold it up. They are about $40 from Amazon. Really simple, but you will want someone to help hold it open while you replace them.
I'd strongly suggest a new mechanic. (S)he may be right, but that sounds sketchy and too vague. Maybe someone in the SM, CA area can recommend a known-good dealership / technician? Do you have any paperwork on what was done before with some more detail we could consider?
C'mon y'all. Some of you must have saved copies of commercials, etc. when they were fresh. And I know that everyone has different search strategies, so maybe think about sharing something? I'm just putting together a compilation to loop at car shows.
Hi all.
I am putting together a compilation of XLR videos and could use some help. I've found several including the Elope commercial, some super bowl commercials, and the Motor Week review, but everything is pretty low resolution and some are almost too grainy to use.
Can you find some more...
Yes, the liner has to be removed. I just had mine apart installing a backup camera. It is pretty simple to do, but more than half of the press-in rivets on mine had become brittle and shattered instead of disengaging. They are a standard size, though and I bought them as part of a kit from...
The Sonax stuff works very well with the right brush. Just follow the directions and be patient. Here are before and after pictures of mine. The door panel had suntan lotion soaked in and the seat was pilled and nasty. The blue picture is a view of the dirty rinse water after doing the driver's...
Me again, same question. Is anyone seeing paint damage / marks on their roof panels that would line up with the trunk lid liner when the top is stored?
I'm certain that the trim pad is touching the roof panel when closed and I am trying to make it lie closer to the trunk lid so there is a gap...
Mostly a guess, but I took one apart once and there is a spring that pulls a mirror on its pivoting mount. The one I looked at, the spring had rusted and broke.
I know this is an old post, but I found it because I’m chasing the same noise myself. Those who can’t hear it on your recording definitely would recognize it if the had it too! Did you ever figure it out?
The reason the / a resistor is needed is the car senses the current draw from the bulb to determine if the bulb is burnt out or not. It is a DOT requirement that either an indicator on the dash or rapid flashing when a turn signal bulb is bad, and in this vintage of car, they do that by sensing...
I apologize if this has been discussed, but it is hard to find in a search. Just today, I realized that the paint marks / flaws / uglies on my roof are actually caused by the forward-most trim panel on the trunk lid rubbing an the top when it is stored. Anyone else seen this? I THINK it will be...
