Cubby I didn't see in your post where you mentioned anything about a complete sway bar package for the Vette. I have no doubt that the Vette sway bar will fit because I too have seen where other members claimed to have used them. I also understand that sway bars use different bushing because of...
Not sure that those bushings will work with the XLR stabilizer. The 06 Vette has 3 different sway bars and all are attached using L shaped brackets whereas the X uses a U shaped bracket. At least that's what I see from the diagrams.
I recently ordered the parts needed to install a rear sway bar on my 2006 Base through GM Parts Direct. A day or two later they notified me that the bushings (part #10317560) are no longer available. I understand the frustration many of us have over the unavailability of parts for our cars but...
shifter cable repair
I've been reading this thread about shifter cable repair. I was wondering if it's more likely for the cable bushing to break at the shifter or the tranny? I went on the bushing repair website and saw that they offer both bushings. It seems, based on what I've seen and read...
Thanks for the info. I'm surprised that I haven't heard anyone else mention this. Maybe I just missed it. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'll let you know how it goes.
I believe that the window stickers that are listed in the XLR registry on this site are just examples. I contacted betty@corvettemuseum.org and she told me that they didn't have the build sheet for my car therefore they couldn't provide the window sticker
You are correct mickeytee. My plan was to install a V hood with a chrome grille on my 06 Blue Steel Base. I love the look of the V hood. The raised area of the hood, in my opinion, breaks up what is otherwise just a plain long flat hood. I am not a fan of the mesh V grille. I do prefer the...
Build sheet/window sticker
If you're lucky you can purchase both of these items from the National Corvette Museum. They are I believe $45 each plus you can have them laminated for an additional $5 each. Just send your VIN to them and they can tell you if the are available or not. Unfortunately...
I too am new to this but if I go to Forums. Then Click General or Technical Discussion. Just above where it says Forum:Cadillac XLR Technical Discussion.....there should be a "Post New Thread" tab. If not I would go to the bottom right of the page and check out your permissions.
I am looking to purchase the 4 book set of shop manuals for my 2006 XLR. I have yet to find any for my year however I have found some form later years particularly 2008. Will that be a problem when using these to service my 2006?

If you don't mind me asking where did you have them installed? Was it a dealership, repair shop or what? Just curious because I'd like to have mine installed but are a little bit leery about who does it.
I've been thinking about doing the same thing with my 06 however I know there is a difference between the two hoods in regard to the front edge chrome trim piece. It's been suggested that I just paint the piece to match the color of my X. Not really big on that and was wondering how you were...
Do you still have the set of shop manuals? if so do you have any idea of the cost to ship them to Maryland? Also interested in the new OEM car cover and Bag. I already have a very nice Covercraft cover that I really like but may be interested in yours. Does it have the Cadillac or XLR logo. Have...
That's good to know. My X has been doing the same thing as ebtdad"s X. I purchased 4 new ones from GMParts and have yet to have them installed. I had no idea that I could just go to NAPA to get replacements. Would you mind telling me what they cost. I paid $70 each at GMParts. Just curious.
It's not that I think the mirrors need to be larger or that I hate the mirrors. I just believe that they would have looked better if they had sharper lines as opposed to the smooth rounded look the designers incorporated. After all..... it wasn't referred to as the origami car for nothing.
I am also wondering if the 09 Platinum grille with not fit an 06 because of interference with the base hood. If that's the case does anyone know if I could order an 09 Platinum grille and hood and install those on my 06?
