There are different models for different years. The best bet would be to go to a Cadillac dealer and have him look up using your vin what model number you need. The 2004 remotes are hard to find. I'm not sure when they changed them though. Hopefully that's not the one you need.

If your tanks need repaired, take it to an independent repair shop that works on Corvettes. Dealerships will want to do it by the book and will charge you twice as much.

Checking wiring and wire connections is a pretty basic step in troubleshooting. Especially on intermittent problems. It's not easy to check, that's why they like to skip it and start swapping parts.
