2018 Woodward Dream Cruise XLR Gathering Update

This is an update for our earlier thread. We just spoke to the general manager of the GM dealer on Woodward Ave. in Ferndale Michigan about space availability for the Dream Cruise Saturday gathering we discussed at last year's Dream Cruise. He said that he would need a head count for those attending before he could say with absolute certainty that he would be able to provide the space we needed. There is a practical minimum and maximum amount of space available. There will be a local radio station broadcasting from there, food trucks and more to be determined which is why a head count is needed. The space that he plans to provide will allow us to park with an unobstructed view of Woodward Ave. The plan at this point is that this will be an all day Saturday August 18 event. We will arrive at the crack of dawn with our XLR and our Silverado loaded with a gas grill, coolers, hose cart, buckets, car wash detergent, towels, microfiber cloths, Meguiar's Final Inspection and whatever the gathering participants might need that we can provide. We are familiar with the limitations that the XLR has when it comes to traveling while hauling stuff, especially with the top down. If we can help make this happen for you it would be our pleasure. We told the dealer general manager that we would post the head count request and would get back to him the second week in June with a number. For those out there who have expressed an interest and those who are contemplating participating in the event, now is the time to step up and make a commitment. We checked in with the dealer's general manager and in spite of the fact that we only have 4 owners 100% committed to attending, we are on for the Saturday August 18 get-together. There will be space available for those attending last minute. We will be arriving about 8 a.m. to get set up with our XLR and a Silverado loaded with goodies mentioned in previous posts. Hope you have a great turn out for the event. As an ex owner, we had many trips with enthusiastic XLR owners over the years. It's a different generation involved now and doesn't seem to be the same. Try to make it down to Bowling Green in September and you will meet a lot of the old school owners, and new owners for a memorable experience. After twelve years of ownership, we will be joining our XLR friends f past years , but in a different vehicle.

If you're in the neighborhood for the Woodward Dream Cruise, all are welcome to swing by and hang out. Ex-owners, potential future owners and anybody interested in the XLR community knows where and when to find us. Bowling Green is on our to-do list as soon as circumstances will allow us. We had been Corvette owners for 13 years and XLR owners for 3 years. Eventually we will make all the stops on our list. Because having recently acquired the XLR and having the summer off for surgery got us on the current path for the Dream Cruise XLR get-together. Hope to see a good crowd in August.
