Just got my early Christmas present. A set of black chrome v wheels with tires. Saw the listing on ebay was a pick up only purchase. Luckily it was only a hour trip south. After seeing them in person it was definitely worth the ride. The owner got them through la wheel. They are speed line factory wheels. The tires arn't run flats but they are almost brand new yokohamas. The only thing I might have to change are the sensors. They came off a 06 I have a 04 I remember reading they arn't interchangeable? I just put one on to see how it looked had to get black chrome lugs which haven't come in yet. But now ill be able to put my upgraded brake setup on over the winter! The owner smashed his 06 black raven into a tree about a hundred feet away from his house dead center front impact. Totaled it he said he was being cocky and lost control around a slight bend seems he didn't care much:dunno:

Looks great, congrats. Sorry to hear we lost another XLR on the road though.

Looks good. Send out a picture when you get them all mounted. I thought about those on my black 06 v. Mine came with the standard V wheels. I bought a set of Chrome V wheels and tires on ebay a little over a year ago. I think I like the chrome over the standard at least on my black car. Yours must not of been on Ebay long because I check that constantly. The one's I bought on ebay kept giving me low tire messages. I finally had to take it to a friend of mine and they have some type of computer that goes from wheel to wheel DF PF PR DR and once it recognized the wheel I had no more low pressure readings. I had the pressures right it just was doing crazy things untill I had them initialize each wheel with there computer that scans different sensor codes once it blows the horn everything worked properly then.

I've been searching for new wheels since I bought her. Interesting when I got the wheels on eBay they didn't come up under xlr they were under 19" wheels. The original owner had them on a raven black he showed me pics looked stealth. I'm a chrome or go home guy. The black chrome brings a elegance that chrome doesn't have. I would recommend it on just about any color. They sell them on eBay for 1800.00 a set. My car is sleeping in the garage for acouple months really couldn't get a full side shot but when I can I'll post some more pics to show off the wheels and newly powder coated calipers and big brakes. Gosh winter just started:willy_nilly::willy_nilly::willy_nilly:

You must be living right. I think had that guy put them on E Bay under XLR there would have been a bidding war. What year XLR did he crash? I'm assuming it was a V and if it was, what color was interior? IF I am correct there were just under 800 Black on Black V's produced. I know of at least 5 that have bit the dust. That has got to be a heart breaker!! I would like to get a picture of that black one with those wheels, if you possibly have the guys contact please send me personal.I'll pay him to forward the pictures. I won't bug him I'd just like to see all that black. Did he have his windows tinted? In the spring let me know how you like those Yokah-tires. I now have two sets of Perelli's got a new set with the chrome ebay purchase. I think they are great tires.

The year was a 06 and I believe it had the tan interior with tinted windows. The sad thing is he was literally 100 feet from his house. He said their is a slight hill with a sharp turn at the crest of the hill and he was cocky going to fast. The tires broke and he didn't have enough time to correct. He showed me a picture of the car and he dead center hit the tree. I asked if the hood was salvageable but it was toast. Other than that the car looked good. I asked what the insurance pay out was and he said he made 8k on the loss he didn't care. The insurance companies must not wanna touch these cars. And yes I did have a horse shoe you know where. The rims look awesome with my color, the tires are practically brand new,and you couldn't buy the tires for what I paid for them! Just have to see if the sensors will sink up?

Thanks again. In the spring if you go to a good tire shop I think this thing they have goes thru a series of scan codes to link the sensor with the wheel. I know the first wheel took awhile and the next 3 went quickly.

Thanks I just saw the procedure on another thread about relearning the sensors. I have some strong magnets ill try to reprogram them and see what happens.

I seen that magnet thing on another forum. I tried that with my original wheels. I could get the DF to blow the horn but the rest wouldn't do it. I had some huge magnets I had from my Air force days out of a C 141 radar unit. It may work for you. I think the unit the tire shops use scans the tps to see what it puts out to communicate with the car. That is what the shop explained to me.

Cool. Good job. Really nice looking.:) FYI, the replacement High Mount is being delivered to Logan Diagnostic in Tennessee tomorrow or Wed. They will rebuild it. Danny (also in Chicago) offered me his old totaled one (still worked) for parts (Thanks Danny), but I didn't want to attempt trying to rebuild it after reading what others went through. Something that I felt I needed to leave to a professional. --- Really great looking wheels!

Is that color opulent blue? But just a question though - the wheels look simply chromed - what am I not getting?

The color is xenon blue I believe they changed the color name in later years. Chrome is like a mirror " very reflective". Black chrome is a two part process. Hard to explain its like black anodizing over chrome. To me it brings a elegance to chrome.

Just a little update on the tps sensors. We've had a warm snap here and my baby got dirty before I could put a cover on her for storage. So I decided to take her down the block and give her a hand wash. Well the sensors all registered on their own. :twist:. I remember reading acouple threads on the sensors and they stated that 06 on had different sensors and would NOT work earlier years? The wheels are 06 the sensors are factory and mines a 04. All I know is it saved me a lot of grief at the tire shop switching sensors around. Happy new year everyone!

Glad everything worked itself out on its own. Sometimes these cars have minds of their own.
