Unfortunately it appears the left subwoofer is blown in my '04. :ugh: I've noticed less bass response and it sounds flat at certain low frequencies when turned up. I guess playing AC/DC at full blast finally caught up with me. :rocker:

My experience with Bose speakers in my daily driver Maxima is that you have to replace it with the exact same model due to the ohm (which is usually 1-2). Before I place an order with an online GM parts supplier to replace the speaker, has anyone tried an aftermarket unit?

Also how difficult is it to get the door panel off? It doesn't appear I can remove the Bose grill for access to the woofer so I will have to pull the whole thing off on the weekend. I've installed car audio in various cars I owned in the past, but want to take as much precaution as possible with my new baby. ;) I know it only requires one broken tab here or there to make the whole panel feel loose.

I Replaced the entire Bose system in my corvette and the reason I changed the speakers to Boston Super Pro 60's is because until recently Bose had a special build in box must go through that will not allow you to change there system. What I did with Vette was put in a hugh system which would be nice to do with the XLR but you wouldnt be able to put your top down. You should be able to get this through cadillac parts dept.

Hmmm... I don't think I'm ready to lose the ability to drop the top just yet. :) I'm going to keep the speakers in their stock location at least for now. Also looking at some of the previous forum posts cruise control and onstar are also tied into the Nav system/factory head unit too... so unless that box you mentioned bypasses those too I'll probably stick to replacing just the single woofer. I was just wondering if anyone found a speaker compatible with the Bose setup (and with my history of Bose I know that can be hard heh)..

To remove the door panel, you will have to remove the courtesy light at the bottom rear on the door panel. Pop off the lense and carfully remove the light base. Behind that there is a bolt which needs to be removed. In the handle grab area, lift up the rubber piece at the bottom and you will find two screws. Romove those screws. Now grab the bottom of the door panel and start pulling it toward you, it may seem like it is stuck, but keep pulling it will come loose. Lift the panal up slightly to move it from the window track area, but not too far as there are connections you need to undo to get the panel completely off. You should now be able to remove the bose speaker.

Successful replacement!

In case anyone has this issue I want to give back to this site that has helped me tremendously. I just replaced a blown woofer in driver's door of my 07. Cubby's instructions are accurate. After removing the 3 bolts (courtesy light and in the door handle area, all 3 are 9mm) it does require a pretty good tug from bottom then the sides to free the panel. Just be sure you don't pull too far and disturb electrical connector at front of door (maybe 6-8 inches of play so the woofer can be replaced without disconnecting the wires). I bought a used, OEM Bose woofer #10315183 on ebay from Pacific Motors for $77 and free shipping. Is sounds great! Sunny day so I'm going for a ride!! Thanks everyone!

Yeah I managed to get it off and did the same thing:) the only tricky part is don't break the tabs from the courtesy light cover... I did and never replaced it lol. I actually parted ways with my XLR as a retirement gift to my father but I still plan to work on it every now and then for him (and also drive it for memory sake :) .. enjoy that ride man... and don't let it sit in a garage forever! My best memories and what led to my now fiancee can be connected to the best car in the world imo.. hope you have the same luck too!

Wow, nice gift for your dad! Thanks for the well wishes. My son is a senior in high school so I'm thinking good grades equals awesome prom car!!

As someone who changed out the factory Nav/CD unit, I can say with authority that I still have working cruise control and OnStar. Replaced with a Kenwood 893s. Only thing you lose is the readout on the HUD when you change radio stations. Small loss for me. Only thing wonky I've noticed is if you place an OnStar phone call, the Kenwood powers down. When you hang up or cancel the phone call, the Kenwood starts up again. So no worries for me, as Android Auto is what I use to make a phone call anyway. Just use OnStar as a backup phone.
