DETROIT – For the fourth consecutive year, the Cadillac CTS family has been named to the Car and Driver 10Best list. This year, the award recognizes the Cadillac CTS-V Sport Sedan, CTS-V Coupe, and CTS-V Wagon.

In the January 2011 issue of Car and Driver editors explained their focus on the CTS-V line:
“In forsaking the mainstream CTSs, we are saying yes to psychedelic power, yes to organ-shifting g-forces, yes to the great, mind-expanding duality of Cadillacs that make the 0-to-60 sprint about as fast as a Ferrari 599…. These are hard-core performance cars, but they are also Cadillacs, with all of the seamlessness, refinement, and content that implies.”​
The CTS-V line features a supercharged 6.2L V-8 delivering 556 horsepower (415 kW) and 551 lb.-ft of torque (747 Nm). Power is delivered to the rear wheels through either a standard six-speed manual or available six-speed automatic transmission. Other high-performance features on the CTS-V family include standard Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes, and 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires.

Introduced as a 2010 model, the CTS-V Sport Sedan is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour, and lapped the famed Nurburgring in Germany in 7:59.32 minutes.

The CTS-V Coupe, which went on sale this summer, pairs that performance with classic hardtop styling defined by the lack of a traditional B-pillar, the steeply raked windshield angle, and the long, nearly horizontal backglass. The Coupe also features concept-car details, such as the rear spoiler integrated into the center high-mounted stop lamp and the center-outlet exhaust with twin tips that pass through the rear fascia.

The CTS-V Wagon, which goes on sale this month, pairs that performance with accommodations for up to 58 cubic feet of cargo.

“We sincerely appreciate Car and Driver’s continued recognition of the CTS as one of their favorite cars,” said Don Butler, vice president, Cadillac marketing. “The CTS is an example of the performance, design, and luxury that have made Cadillac a leader among luxury brands.”

The Michigan-built Chevrolet Volt was also named to the Car and Driver 10Best list for 2011. General Motors was the only American automaker to earn two spots, and tied with Honda for the most vehicles from any manufacturer, on the prestigious list.
 
I agree; the CTS-V and its coupe counterpart are definately hot - but the wagon? Maybe they should stick some wood on the sides. Hey; it worked for the PT Cruiser. :lol: They squeezed at least another 2 dozen sales out of that option.
 
Usually Car and Driver only has BMWs on their list. They don't seem to like what we build in America. Maybe their subscriptions are falling off.
 
Good point, besides - magazines are going the way of the dinosaur.

I haven't read a magazine in so long, or a newspaper - Heck, I can't remember the last time.

I download books to my Ipad, I have several newspaper and trade magazine apps on my Ipad, and I have a real-time stock ticker app, who needs paper??

I love the feel and smell of a new magazine or book .... and the ink smell of a morning newspaper..... In antique shops I still look for the old pile of magazines and love looking at the old ads and pictures. A great day of shopping for me is browsing the isles and magazine racks at Barnes & Noble .... (Hah.... still a People fan!)
Media may change ... but I won't. True - todays communication is best commuted via the Internet, and I use it almost exclusivly, (well that and TV) but nothing speaks louder to me than a picture that I can hold.... or hang on a wall .... or put in a frame. I still clip articles.....My favorite papers are still The Times, and USA Today ..... I love looking through the paper on Sunday morning with my coffee ..... and Ray STILL gets MotorTrend .... Geez .... I hope paper media isn't obsolete during my lifetime ...:(

Average age of a newspaper reader = 55.

In 2008, on-line revenues for the Los Angeles Times surpassed the operating costs of their print division. In other words, they are losing money by printing the paper.

When polled, only 19% of Americans ages 18-35 say they read a printed newspaper.

428 magazines went out of print in 2009. Over 125 newspapers folded.

Newspaper "want ads" revenue dropped 49% in 2009. Craig's List grew ads by another 12% during the same period of time.

We control how obsolete we become. :)

When I was a cop, I hated the change from writing reports in the squad room to completing them on MDT's in our cars. Took forever, since typing was not a required skill for coppers. (Now, I can type faster and more accurately than my admin.)

As much as I hated the MDT's, as a tac team supervisor it was nice to have a cellular fax unit that allowed me to write, fax and obtain a judge's signature on a search warrant - all within 20 minutes while we held a perimeter on a drug house.

Now they do it all via their laptops with digital signatures.


I used to carry around a heavy laptop. They made them lighter, faster, longer battery life but still a pain to drag around and wait for them to boot up.

Now I carry an IPad, through which I not only access my desktop back in the office, but with cloud computing mobile access, there is nothing I can't do from anywhere in the world. And there is no boot up time, instant on.

Beginning in January, I will tele-commute most of the week. Just no need to be in the office to run my piece of the business any longer.

I can wear my flamingo pajamas, smoke a Padron, sip on a shot of Padron and get paid for it !! HA !

'Just talking to Detail Guy this morning ..... I have worn out the space bar and a few other letters on my laptop (rubber spring thingys are worn down to a nub) .... I was looking at that Dell flip thing .... and the IPad .... I've been a PC user for 32 years .... Apple scares me a litle ... but, I understand you can get lessons with your Ipad to maximize your usage .... that is a great idea ... and we have an Apple store just down the street ..... still, I'm not sure .... :dunno: I've got the Droid and have been using that more frequently ... because I love the GPS, aps, etc .... I don't know ... just so much to choose from.

Flamingo pajamas??? :laugh:
