I recently purchased a 2008 xlr-v, awesome car however I am unfamiliar with the cooled seats. Heat side works great but the cold is minimal at best (both sides). When turned high on they cool for approximately for 3 to five minutes, after that the air keeps moving but there is no more cooling affect. Does anybody know if this is a common or normal characteristic of this feature or if there a warranty concern here? Dealer unsure, please help!:dunno:

Its definitely a warranty issue (if you are still under warranty), had a similar issue with my 2006 XLR. The dealer will have to check the seats and make sure that all the connections are made or they may be a control module issue.
.

I am having the same issue. I can hear some air movement, but feel little if anything. I am out of warranty and wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to diagnose the issue on my own.

This may be worth a shot and won't cost a penny to diagnose:

Slide and tilt both seats forward to gain access to the area behind the seats where the seat bottom and back meet. Using a flashlight, check the plastic duct that connects the two halves of the seat for tears or disconnects. Normal seat movement makes this area prone to failure over time.

Each seat bottom houses a blower that sends heated/cooled air through these airways to another thermoelectric cooling module near the top of the seat back. A tie wrap may be needed to keep the connections tight and can be installed on the groove where the flanges meet. I used BIG heat shrink to fix both of my seats.

Hope this helps,

CC

When I first got my 2006 last year the ducts behind the seats were torn loose and part of the duct was missing. The dealer replaced the ducts and one fan motor and they are both working now. I find that the cooling operation does not work as well as heating. Mine does the same thing, gets cool and then over time the cooling falls off and does not feel as cool. I think this is due to the cooling modules in each seat operating cold enough to be below the dew point and condensing water and finally freezing up due to the high humidity we have near Houston.
