Engine surging

I have a 2008 XLR-V that has an intermittent problem with the engine racing/surging. The first time I was downshifting on a hill and the engine surged. The second time I was slowly pulling into a parking spot and the engine surged and the car jumped forward almost hitting the curb. I have taken it to my local Cadillac dealer and they can not recreate the problem so they can not diagnose and fix it. All they said was change your fuel that you put into it. Any ideas or suggestions what to do next?

Clean the throttle body of carbon build up.
