That Xenon Blue is certainly an eye-catcher and attention-getter!

Don't you just love how a car rides and handles with new tires?

Thanks for sharing with us.

I especially love how much smoother it is out on the highway without runflat tires on it, what a difference!

It sure looks fabulous, lots of bling! :naughty: The Xenon Blue is a gorgeous car! All XLR look great but for me it was the only other colour I was considering purchasing when looking for my car. :worship:

I have heard before that there is a marked improvement in the ride by getting rid of the run flats. My tires only have 10,000 miles on them, I have a tough time spending the bucks to replace them before their time!

Enjoy your ride!

My 2006 only had 13k miles on it, but I could not wait to get new tires. I got rid of the run flats on both of mine. It makes a huge difference.

Last time we had run flats on a car, low miles on the tires didn't pose a problem. My husband drove it in a way that "burned through" the miles pretty quickly & accelerated the wear. And had some fun doing it. :rocket: ;)

Those things are truly terrible.

I wish I would have thought of that. A nice big smokey burnout in the cad would have been fun:naughty:

Run-flats

If one switches from run-flats, what then is the plan if you have a flat?

I would imagine that some of you have dealt with this scenario before?

Well, I have AAA. Also, a can of slime and a small 12v air compressor in the trunk for a longer trip just in case.

Which in most cases, ruins the TPMS sensors and goo's up the inner wheels.:squint::squint:

.....can of slime and a small 12v air compressor in the trunk for a longer trip just in case.

My son is in the tire business. That slime will save you from being towed but the shop guys absolutly hate that crap  it makes a bloddy mess and they can't repair a tire after the slime, just replace it, not to mention the sensor is destroyed.

I too have CAA (Canadian verison of AAA....eh!) and I am not afraid ut use it! ;)

Another alternative to slime would be a tire repair kit that has those sticky plugs you install, then inflate with the small compressor. That would get you to a tire shop that could repair the tire properly or replace the tire as needed.

I have been driving for nearly 40 years (ya sure, do the math: early/mid 50's) and have never had tire damage so bad that that I was left stranded. (:pat: - knock wood) I have heard the fateful sound of the click click click of a nail or screw and stopped and check if it was only a stone: then had to drive to the nearest tire shop.

I think I may consider a few well planned burn outs to help me need to replace the runflats! Anyone want to come play! :rocker:

I use the plug kits also, but if it's too hot outside they slide back out sometimes. I had repaired my lincoln mark VIII with one of the cemented in plugs and it was too hot outside and the plug popped back out. But, I would prefer the plug to the slime, but it depends on the temperature. Iused to be in the tire business as well, and I hated having to clean that stuff out of people's tires. Have fun with the burnouts!

Wal Mart has a nice kit that includes a 12 volt air compressor, flexible air hose, rubber plugs and a tool to install them, and as a last resort a bottle of slime. I think I paid about $50 for the whole thing. It all fits in the passenger side well in the trunk with room to spare. The only thing else I purchased was a pair of pliers to pull a nail out with and a pair of gloves. I check the pressures on the DIC before I go anywhere and occasionally check them while on the road. The DIC will let you know if any tire gets too low, but by comparing pressures I can detect small leak before that happens.

Those wheels and tires look great!!!Do the rear tires stick out past the rear fender? I like how they look, but it is difficult to see from the angle of the photo that was uploaded. Is the et portion of the wheel size the offset? Lastly did you have to do any programming changes for speed etc, or is the total wheel and tire size the same as factory?

Thanks

Yes, they stick out in the rear about a 1/2". But, I rather have them stick out a little then rubbing the inside fenderwells everytime I go into a turn. You could probably get away with a 40mm offset in the rear as well as the front but, it might start rubbing in corners. wheel and tire combo are within 1/4" of factory diameters. Off by about 1 m.p.h at 65 m.p.h.

With the new size tires at 65 MPH on the spedo you will be going about 65.78 MPH. Close enough where i come from (LOL) TED
