Have paddle shifters ever been installed on XLR's?

At the Corvette Homecoming we attended, I talked to one of the vendors who was selling paddle upgraded steering wheels for the C6 and he said it probably should work, but needed a testbed to try it out. Unfortunately ELWOOD wasn't available and he wasn't close to me.

I have done a little research on the subject, and determined its easily doable, just haven't bothered to try it. I think I mocked up a set of BMW paddles to the steering column surround (its a little bit of a reach, but eliminates the need to wire the paddles through the steering wheel). The modification to run the wires from the shift switches is cake!
