Time for a new set of tires and am having trouble finding the OEM michelins. Apparently Michelin no longer is manufacturing run flats. I am hesitant on buying non-run flats as I have heard stories of undercarriage damage while placing the xlr on the roll back.

Any other brand of run flats anyone can recommend or any other tire advice?

thanks in advance!

If I am not mistaken Goodyear makes a run-flat that fits the XLR. I think it is a Eagle and runs about $450 per tire plus mount/balance, etc.

I'm running OEM Pirelli's on my '06 V... 2nd set, I believe (new when I acquired the vehicle a year ago). They're still available... for a price : )

ZP tires

I may be mis informed but information referred to me indicates that Michelin is discontinuing the run flat series, not the ZP tires that the XLR uses. I would contact Michelin directly if you cannot find tires at your location.

Good luck

Goodyear Eagle rs-a. Emt. P235/50zr18 Run flat OEM tires.
I approached my Cadillac service manager about whether he would put tires that I got from Tire Rack on the car as the savings were significant compared to the dealership's price. He said they would match the price - just document the web price and shipping charges.

Good to know...

"Run Flat" is a general term. Michelin run flat tires carry a ZP (zero pressure) designation, while Goodyear run flat tires are labelled EMT (Extended Mobility Tire).

Tire Rack's web site lists the Michelin ZP tires that were OEM for the 2004-2005 XLR as being available. Discount Tire lists them as available March 1.

Later XLR's came with the Goodyears. The decision to switch was likely made at a level well above the engineers.

"THESE TIRES ARE NOT RUN FLATS"
New tires are on the XLR! WOW! what a difference these tires ride like a clould no noise (at least with top up) seem to be very quiet. Also handles like a dream. If your in the market for new tires and if you don't mind running regular tires instead of run flats then check out the Michelins Pilot Super Sports. If you can find them they had 6 in Calf. and shipped my 4 here to PA for me. I don't think they look as nice as the Goodyear Eagle's that is what I was running, these are more rounded on the edges and look like a racing tire, But that's what makes them handle better to I'm sure. They cost about $280.00 each on the car complete! :rocker:
