Has anyone replaced their RFT tires with the new bridgestone drive guard tires?
Was it necessary to change the rims?

Special rim shape is not required. They are available in the stock size for a base, but not for a V. I wouldn't expect great things out of an all-season tire.
Not just to make noise... and I'm not exactly sure what "great things" constitute... but I'm quite pleased with my Michelin A/S 3's. I'm more a rider than a racer, but they've performed well at a wide range of speeds. I will concede that they are firmer than my old Pirellis and ride smoother on well-paved roads/highways.
