I would call the larger Cadillac dealerships in your area and ask if they have an XLR tech in the shop and approximately how many XLR's they have sold/worked on.

Have you tried indexing your windows? Do your express up/express down features work on your windows? If not, then I think that could be your problem. Try re-indexing your power windows - press and hold your power windows up and then down, for 3 - 5 seconds, then release.

Hope that works. Good luck.

top and trunk will not work

they did not have a clue the two tech that was there said they never seen one so i got out of there asap thanks any way i was wondering if there is some one at bowling grren where it was built can work on them

top

If the valet button in the glove is depress the top won`t function because, the truck won`t open. Simple first.

i tryed the window reset that did not help and the valet switch also i tryed my master key trunk will only open about a foot

Was wondering if you could be more specific of your problem. Have you tried all four ways to open trunk. Does the problem occur with all operations. You have the remote, the button next to the steering wheel, the button above rear license plate, and the emergency key. I didn't look at a diagram but guessing all controls lead to latch mechanism. Check you fuses? Do you hear any kind of release when trying any buttons? I would also check the condition of batt. if this is the first time getting her out from long sit. The trunk when opened by the emergency key will not open all the way. It will just release the latch you'll have to open it manually and it's heavy. Good luck!

I'm sure Lexington and Cincy both would have XLR techs. If not, there is one here at Swope in Louisville. He hates working on them and gets really cranky when one comes in, but either way he is trained on them...

I think it is about time someone in the Cadillac responsible chain, publish for us loyal customers a list of the dealerships that have techs that are trained on our cars! It is my understanding that the dealership in Bowling Green, where the car was mfg. did NOT send a tech for the necessary training.

Cadillac Tech, are you reading this???

yes that is a crying shame to buy and pay for something that you hope to keep and then they cant even help you at the dealership you have to drive it 200 miles to get it worked on i think iam getting out of the cadillac bussiness . This takes the fun out of it. thanks i will call Swope and see if i can get them to work on it

Good deal, Larry. You would think with a customer base as affluent as ours, more attention would be paid to our satisfaction. But I think this has been a GM problem for decades!

Rusty,

I think you need to contact Cadillac Customer Care.

Cadillac Tech is an XLR tech that worked at a Cadillac dealership and is now working at a private car care center. He has nothing to do with Cadillac.

Thanks Cubby. My mistake.
PS. Google does not return results for "Cadillac customer care". Any ideas?

top and trunk

I sent the following PM to "cadillaccustomerservice"

Hi, My name is Hugo Scheuer. My net name is klaptrapper. If you look at the technical discussion thread most recent on "trunk and top will not work", you will discover there is a lot of difficulty in locating a cadillac dealer who has a trained technician for our XLR cars. Since I am sure the company keeps records about the dealerships that purchased the training. It would be grossly helpful if you would look into having a listing of such dealerships and their addresses and service numbers as a post to our net.
After making as significant a purchase from GM as the members of this site have, this kind of frustrastion is not welcomed.

Thank you
Rusty 06 V

No problem, Rusty. You could always move close to Indy and have Bruce do all your XLR work.:lol: He is awesome.

As mtrocket said, search hear on the forum for cadillaccustomerservice and sens a PM. Hopefully Caron will be able to help.

Thanks Cubby. My mistake.

That annoying noise is coming from the Tech!

That's somewhat simular to my Dealership. The XLR Technician is very good on the XLRs, but I am told he gripes about how hard they are to work on!

He must be good, the last time CP was in for service, my Service Advisor (also a Top-Notch guy) made the comment that "it must be XLR day", because he had 5 XLRs in for service that day! This is a Cadillac dealership in a town of approximately 50,000 people.

I hope you find a dealership with a good XLR tech!
