trunk leak

Hi gang,
has anybody figured out a way to prevent trunk water leaks. i have had mine at dealers several times but no luck, i have studies the seals closely and all are in good shape. put bluing on trunk lid to confirm good contact, 100% all around? best i can figure out is where the seals merge at the passenger side door jam. any thoughts. By the way for those who dont know you should cut the drain tube in your hydraulic top motor area to prevent water from filling the compartment.

Perhaps you need to try a different dealer. My 04 had a leak and my dealer fixed it in 2 visits (first to identify where it was leaking, 2nd to install the parts they had to order). My 08 has never leaked, but I periodically check the drain hole to be sure nothing is clogging it.

Recently I had to shell out 1100 in parts and labor. It ended up being a weatherstrip where the rear window meets the trunk.
After several trips into the dealership they finally put a guy in the trunk and did a water test. The old weatherstrip had some holes in it I guess. So after a big rain storm I went out and checked it. There was water in the trunk area. Nothing standing but the carpet was soaked. So long story short. Problem fixed. It was the weatherstripping where the back window, or that area meets the trunk

There is a Service Bulletin out on this, but don't have the date or code available now. I quizzed my local dealer and he had the "fix" performed at no charge to me. It basically consisted of affixing a flat-ish weather stripping across the back and back sides of the trunk lid. I had experienced no leakage at the time, but wanted to have the extra touch if it was available.

The "man-in-the-trunk" leak detection system is the best method to troubleshoot problems like this. The factory also used this method.
