Well, I had done what most of the original members had done and sold my XLR. The site has transitioned and it appears some traditions and camaraderie have disappeared. That being said I am not one to simply accept the status quo. I am willing to coordinate one or two trips a year as a reunion for XLR (and yes corvette) owners to attend. Attendance, willingness to participate, and the ability to open your wallet for a great trip with car enthusiasts is required. One member referred to the XLR group as, “…a drinking club with a car problem…”. Though we never mix the two the trips, which lasted from 3-7 days were always well planned and well attended. Who is interested? Where would you like to go?
(Point Of Order: your vehicle must be well maintained and ready to drive. These trips are about driving the cars not just parking them.)

Dave, you know that the wife and I are in! You got Sandy still on this forum along with Mike & Amy. And you know that we can get ahold of a lot of the other "original group". I know they'd be interested. Cubby wants to go to GA! Go to see ya' back!!

Hey Chad (& Rogene)! Cubby relayed the message you saw I was back. He mentioned Savannah as a more informal trip. I am up for one or two a year and do not mind putting miles in the car. If (we) want to get the gang on board (XLR or Corvette) let’s talk. pm me if you do not have my email and we can discuss.
By the way I did reach out to Sandy. She was going to sell her XLR however, when she drove it changed her mind.

Sounds good to me. I'd love to meet some fellow members. While I don't drive the XLR much, get togethers would be nice.
Robert Lewisville, NC can not be too far from Charlotte. There is a very nice couple there who are part of the ‘main group‘ who used to do these trips. If you are serious I will let you know when I am down next with my car.

Ok folks. SPRING is just around the corner. Where do we want to go? Bowling Green, Asheville, Nashville, Orlando? Pick a state, pick an event, pick a date or sponsor a trip. These require planning and coordination. PM me and let’s get an event on the calendar.

Hey Dave - I just sent you a PM. I would love to have a trip to Bowling Green with a group of XLR/Corvette members. It would be great to meet new folks, but also good to see anyone who is around from the old crew.
Let's see what kind of dates we can find that works for as many people as possible. My '07 V does not come out of winter storage until May 1st (but Cindy's '05 Base is always available). :)
A couple of dates to look at might be: Weekend of May 19th or Weekend of June 9th.

Sent email response. More than happy to coordinate a trip or two. Touched base with the Walkers. They might be interested depending on dates.

Chicago Dave will be in touch reference a homecoming trip to Bowling Green. If you will check with any of the folks you are still in touch with to check their interest. There is also a possible trip to Savannah, depending on interest. At this point I would love a large group response however, I would be content with getting a smaller group together just to catch up on time passed since we were together.

The huge 2023 XLR Owners meet is August 24th-26th located in Grand Rapids Michigan . Our website for all the information about the event and the attached video of last years meet. www.allantexlrinvitational.com

Hey Dave!!! A reunion trip would be great! To keep it simple, we could just meet in Bowling Green. I hear now that the plant tour cost $$'s. (Never remember paying before). But now you can watch the paint shop work from a galley. The XLR meet mentioned here would be cool, but a lot of us don't have their XLR's anymore (I.E. us, went to a C8). We're good to go anytime with the exception of June 1-9. Yea, putting one of these together takes a lot of work! Been there done that, as you have Dave, and Mike & Amy! We could just set a date and then we fly by the seat of our pants,,,, It's what we use to do before people started to organize them. Let's hope everyone can get together!

Hello Chad,

It has been awhile since the MTRocket Run. We sold the CTSV and now park a ‘17 C7 Stingray Coupe in the garage. We would love to see old friends again, so I’ll keep watching this site for updates and would certainly entertain a trip especially something in the Mid West/ West Coast.
At the end of May we are planning to join the Big Sky Corvette meet in Helena, and might possibly extend our trip and take in Bloomington on the following weekend.

Hey, Chad, Dave, Cubby and everyone else, I’m up for a get together this spring/summer. I’m good with any or all 3 mentioned.

Hey Bob & Marianne great to hear from you. Chicago Dave was doing some checking. I believe the general consensus is to pick a location on a less formal trip than we used to organize and simply get together. There are a lot of folks west of the Mississippi who also would like something out their way as well. Thanks for posting and I will update when something is decided. I think the OG’s have predominately gone to Corvette, understandably so, which means there will not be that view of 20+ XLRs showing up. Enjoy the folks as much as the cars.
