My 2004 XLR didn't come from the factory with XM radio. I do know that the Nav/Radio unit is XM ready. Also behind the center storage console is the XM wiring harness. My Question is I read on another forum that a 04 owner of a non XM car purchased the SIRGM1 kit to convert XM to Sirius.

He said he plugged the factory XM harness into the SIRGM1 box and than ran the Sirius antenna up to the dash and mounted it on the right speaker grill and that was it. The Sirius comes up in the factory radio and he call the ID number in and he had Sirius radio. Has anybody else done this to their 04-05 non XM car? Does it sound like it will work?

I know if your car came with XM from the factory and you wanted to convert it to Sirius you would buy this kit and unplug the same plug from the XM box and put into the Sirius box so it sound like this could work.

I had XM and Sirus bought them out and now its all Sirus so if I understand what you have said and you have the XM box that should be fine I didnt have to change anything they must broardcast off of both since they merged.

Speedway,

My car DIDN'T come from the factory with XM radio. I want to install satellite radio in my car. To get the factory XM module and antenna set up is to expensive. All XLR's come from the factory with the xm wiring already installed. The easiest and cheapest way to do this is to get the Sirius XM conversion kit.

Its really easy , I bought the aftermarket SIRGM1 , super easy install the kit comes with an adapter wiring harness , the adapter harness plugs into the existing pigtail & the other end into the sirius module , the magnetized antenna I put on the right speaker grille , tucked the wires along the kick plate and plugged it into the module , it took maybe 30 minutes total install time & activation was easy as well.

You do know this is a 5 year old thread?

LOL
