Minor coolant leak - after advice before I fix it

Thanks I've now worked out what you mean by two "water housing outlet gaskets", there is one on the end of each head. eg FelPro 35863. Also, the seal between this housing and the throttle body is eg FelPro 61528. Replacing the whole casting looks easier than I first thought too. I'll update...

    XLR Headlights

Regarding the rear lights, there are several threads on here about repairing them, here are two: https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/threads/alternate-tail-light.11313/#post-91185 https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/threads/how-to-change-tail-light-bulbs-2005-xlr.9875/ there is another I am looking for...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

I'm not completely convinced by this, I have the full manual and mine is two volumes, not four, has a different cover too...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

As a general design principle, it is usually better to provide a ground with a brief signal to voltage (where possible). Hence I suspect the BCM usually provides a ground and the RCDLR will provide a brief pulse of power. It would be no surprise for both the BCM and RCDLR to be providing...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

I'm not at all sure. What appears to be the case, is the BCM provides a voltage (could be 12v, could be 5v), which it can disable (which will prevent the latch from working). This is on pin 3 of the door latch (TN, 694 for driver), pin 8 (TN, 294 for passenger) or perhaps can also switch to...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

My workshop manual has pages of diagnostics on this, at 8-181. Wiring diagrams 8-128. The RCDLR sends signals to the door latches, looks like on A (Lt-GN/BK, 5703) and B (D-BU, 5876), suggest you trace the signals from there.

    Trophies

Agreed. I hadn't noticed it before either, then did and remembered this thread. Also, thanks for all you do to keep this going.

    Trophies

If you look at your profile, there is a trophy points score too (you have 28). Don't know where they come from or how they are awarded. Something the site software does? Are these the trophies the OP is asking about?

    Service Stabilitrax

What condition is the battery in? If any doubt at all, fit a replacement. Our Xs are very, very picky about battery condition. Might not be the cause of this problem, but a poor battery will cause strange issues.

    Fuel system diagnosis

Do you have a Tech-2? It shouldn't be possible for the RH tank to fail to fill, there is nothing clever about it, gas from the LH tank over-tops the connecting hose and it pours in. It is normal for the LH tank to be full and the RH tank empty, if you don't put enough gas in to fill the...

Minor coolant leak - after advice before I fix it

Thanks Mickytee. No, there is no molded 'T', nor is it going to the top of the radiator. The hose is a heater hose, going from just behind the throttle body and then down the side of the engine to the heater. The hose starts by going forwards before turning to run towards the cabin. Re the...

    Help! SHOCKS/STRUTS/CONTROL ARMS

Struts are McPherson struts. Very widely used on mass-produced front wheel drive cars of today. Sometimes on the rear. They combine the shock and spring in a single, near vertical tall unit giving more room in the engine bay for a transverse engine placement. They have a very complex top...

    Tire Pressure sensors

I can confirm great success with that tool too (EL-50448). I had an idea the sequence is Left Front, Right Front, Right Rear, Left Rear? I had to hold the pointy bit of the tool pointing at the TPMS, very close to each one. You get a double-beep after the last one to confirm success.

Minor coolant leak - after advice before I fix it

Hello all My X has been suffering a very, very slow drop in coolant level (over 18 months a cup or three), which until recently I convinced myself was simply air purging out after a coolant replacement. Sadly it is an actual leak, though very slight. I have found the leak's source, it is near...

235 50 18 from memory, is the right size for the base XLR, however do those run flats have the expected speed rating?

    Coil pack failure

My X developed a very modest and occasional slight 'sneeze' or delicate 'cough', while idling waiting at lights. In park there was nothing to notice and when moving, again nothing to notice. However, not right. I plugged in the Tech II and it has a diagnostic function that displays a mis-fire...

    New owner / roof issue

That switch is a very simple device and easy to check with a meter. Make sure the harness end (plug) hasn't come away from the switch. Taking the battery out isn't likely to solve a switch problem, nor is there a reset for that switch; BUT XLRs detest poor batteries. Fit the correct battery...

    Help! Ambient sensor reset?

Glad it worked for you. I carry a small can of contact cleaner in the rear stowage; the XLR (like many of today's 'latest and greatest') depends on its electronics and problems with connectors is the #1 cause of strange behaviors. I too kick myself for forgetting to check things where I really...
