Who has a 20 year old (XLR)?

So some of our beauties will hit 20 this year - hard to believe it’s been that long since the first model year! If yours is 20, what do you plan to do to celebrate? I mean, it’s a big one, oughta do something! Mine still has a couple of years…

Substitute available for battery terminal nut at parts store?

Battery terminal nut is worn out. Have found where I can get it online but was trying to do a car show tomorrow so was hoping I could find an in stock substitute to try to get tonight. Any ideas are appreciated!

    Can always dream

Yet another rendering of a future XLR - I definitely like the front - found a 2015 article proposing the mid-engine should go to Cadillac, not Chevrolet, and going through the reasons. Obviously didn’t happen. This picture came from Corvetteblogger.com with a poll where the majority of people...

Thought I’d share - learned how to delete PM’s on new site

There’s no “delete” button anywhere, so was lost. I then found out clicking “Leave” will let you delete the PM. Not at all what I would have expected. So, if anyone out there is as dense as me on this, I’m sharing the info.

Did member garages go bye bye with the new site?

Hello Rob - I give up, I poked around and even ran a search but couldn’t find the answer. The “Member Garage” I had seems to be unfindable. Did that go away with the new site? Thanks.

What has coronavirus made as expensive or rare as XLR headlights & taillights?

Thought I’d start this thread for entertainment, for your serious, funny, or informative comments. Biggest one I can think of is toilet paper. It seems to be as unobtainable as a multitude of XLR parts. Also on the list is any form of ramen noodles, also unobtainable - and one of the...

Coronavirus and companies that act responsibly

I’ve bought various detailing products from a lot of different companies. During this time, all of them keep sending me sales emails and announcements they are open for business. However, I want to give a shout out to Adam’s Polishes. Here is an excerpt of the email they sent: <tbody>...

Summer 2019: GM parts backorder issue

As consolation for those needing parts that ARE still available, found out that it seems almost everything is on back order, even for newer vehicles, even for dealers. Thought I’d pass this along - it’s not just our XLR’s. Misery loves company!

    CT5

Here’s a reveal. Ummm ... doesn’t work for me, certainly not on the profile: 2020 Cadillac CT5 Revealed As Stylish CTS Replacement Some of that profile looks like they stole design cues from the Saturn Ion, just with an extra kink:

Original Parts Group & XLR parts

For what it’s worth, recently ran across opgi.com now carries XLR parts. Skimmed through it & seemed to be a rather random collection of parts & not any bargains. But, it’s at least another source to try.

    Whither Cadillac?

We have a good sized international auto show for new cars in mid January every year. I haven’t been in a while, but last I went Cadillac had a display and once I even ended up buying a STS that was in the show. I checked out info online on this year’s show because my son is interested in...

    The limitations of Carfax

I just traded in a car I’ve owned 5 years (NOT my XLR!!!). It’s had 3 warranty repairs (minor), some things checked that came back with the dreaded “could not duplicate” or “that’s normal,” & had all oil changes/tire rotations done at the dealer (except the last one). The car was reliable &...

    FYI mine ISN’T for sale...

Although some (fill in the blank) has “borrowed” my signature picture on here to use for their eBay ad ... come on kids, use your own pics ... even if it’s kind of a compliment.... make you own car look that good!

2006 Black on Black Base at our local dealer

31k miles, asking $24,700, 2 owner (second kept it 10 years), CarFax shows some accident damage 9 years ago, but that owner still kept the car till now so I assume it was all fixed. No actual pictures yet but I’d expect them up soon. If if anyone is interested we can go take a preliminary...

Fix for OnStar antenna falling down?

Just wondering if anyone has had this happen & found a fix (i.e., the black box on the top of the windshield on the passenger side). There’s double stick tape holding it on which is bubbling & the box is detaching. We tried thin 3M double stick automotive tape, which normally holds on anything...

    Transmission cable fix DIY

The May 2018 (yes, May) edition of Vette magazine has a 1 page article on replacing the shifter cable, or repairing by replacing the plastic grommets, on a C5. Includes info on how to do it without removing the driveline tunnel, etc. Just a FYI, the info might be helpful for doing this on our...

For those looking, if you are near to or willing to travel to Newport News, Va. our dealer has an ‘06 base infrared/shale they just got in, 42,500 miles $25,900 price. Was traded in by a local owner we’ve been on group drives with who needed something a little higher to get in & out of. Info...

    Trouble shifting INTO park

Took Beauty for a drive today & apparently I was done before she was, because when I got home she didn't want to go into park so I could put the top up. Searched the forum & didn't find anything identical, but did find these possibilities: 1. Broken shifter cable - don't think it's this as we...
