2005 Black XLR
I have a 2005 Cadillac XLR. The engine light keeps coming on after being reset. The code is a P0171. I've had the air manifold changed. The Mass Flow Air and the oxygen sensors replace. I had the engine smoked tested twice. Both times ok. My mechanic can't figure it out.
Can anyone help? Ideas?
Thanks,
BobT

Might be loose intake bolts (although if you've had the manifold changed that should have taken care of that issue). Check this thread out & give that a shot: https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/cadi...on-codes-p0171-and-p0174.html?highlight=P0171

(ran a search of the forum with your code and also "O2 sensor" [because I remembered someone paid a bunch of money replacing O2 sensors when it was just the manifold bolts needed tightening] to find these, although I remembered the manifold bolt issue on my own).

Hope something there helps! If not, try using site searches more specific to what you've been told about your problem.

I was having the same problem, or, well... similar. My code was a bad knock sensor. After changing both knock sensors and the light still occasionally coming on, he discovered a loose connection. I know that's not much help, but have your mechanic approach it like an electrical problem. Worth a shot.

Thanks for your input. I'm having my mechanic torque the bolts today. Hope it solves the problem.

This is becoming one of the most problem related issues, I have change everything related to intake air. Had my mechanice attempt to reflash the ecm and bricked it. Unless I have a cracked plenum that would be the only place I would have a leak. If the new ecm corrected (or not) I am going to build a smoke machine and try that.

Paid $800 to my mechanic he tried new ox sensor no change ended up putting electrical tape in front of the MAP to get in emissions test but shortly there after the light came on. So here I go again, this time ordering a MAF from Acdelco thinking the other new maf was not calibrated to this engine. Next I have orderd a tuning chip rated the best from the on line reviews performancetuningchip.com

There is no tuning chip for the base xlr. The guys that build the 4.6 for dune buggys and all use a completely different ecm. The fsctory one a few people claim to "tune " but ive tried a few and they dont do a thing. Good luck and let us know what you find. Your mileage may vary as they say.

Got to get this lean code done!!!!!
