fuel door latch

Well it was working yesterday. Today I pushed the button on the dash, it opened, but the latch pin didn't pop back out? I pushed the dash button again, after cussing it for a minute or two, and I heard the click it makes when you push it to open the fuel door, and lo and behold it popped back out? Yesterday after putting it all back together, it took about 2 seconds for it to pop back out. Could it be that the spring I put in is a little too short, or needs grease in where the spring is so it won't bind?The one that I put in is 3/8ths long and about 1/4 " diameter, and it fits in nicely with just a slight bit of clearance around it, and shouldn't be binding.. Can someone tell me the diameter and length that the spring should be?, because as I said in a previous thread, there was none in the unit that is held by about a 13 mm nut, inside the fuel door.o what they think the problem is? Somebody PLEASE REPLY!!!

Easy fix. Squirt WD 40 around the square door make sure it squirts inside. Get a friend to push open the door as you hit the door opener!
