    Warning! RUBBER SNUFFERS

Apparently they are out of them again. I ordered 4, and received a message yesterday they are out of stock and cancelling my order.

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Finally finished the base and clear, had to do the clear in three sections just to try and keep the dirt out of it. Not sure why but every little fuz piece no matter how small shows up like a sore thumb! Mostly because of the high gloss I think. Now it's time to put everything together then wet...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Here are some pics, can't really see the issues with the hood but it's bad, I am going to sand it all down and respray. I was able to get all the masking off today and check things out, I will need to wet sand a few areas to get rid of some of the dust and German Shepherd hairs! This time of...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Finally with everything going on was able to paint the XLR. After suiting up and doing my shopping at Walmart first, I got home and painted the XLR. Base coat first, then clear coat! It's been a long day! Everything looks good except some mottling on the hood, I cleared it anyway, but it will...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Finished sanding the car, smooth as silk right now. Also painted the grill and engine cover with gloss black, everything else will be Silver Metallic.

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Yes, finished sanding the bad epoxy primer I did a few days ago. It actually wasn't so bad and as tough as that stuff is I could really define the sharp edges a little better. So I sprayed a coat of 2X primer Monday and started sanding it smooth these last few days, that stuff sands awesome with...

    Warning! RUBBER SNUFFERS

I tried ordering these from gmpartsdirect and they said they have none remaining. Anyone found an alternative yet?

    End of my XLR?

When I bought my 2004 for a real good price, I had to drive it 120 miles home, the top wouldn't go up and all the way home the car would go in "limp" mode while every gauge would stop working and every dash light kept flashing. This happened on the entire two hour drive home, the car was going...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Yeah, just a lot of manual sanding. I already have a base coat clear coat gun I use, I just won't spray primer through my good gun so that's why I buy the cheap Harbor Freight guns. Now I'm going to find a decent primer gun, not going to rely on the HFs anymore.

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

I did the worst primer job I've ever done today! Used a cheap Harbor freight gun and couldn't get the thing dialed in at all, it would even spurt primer out every once in a while. I used the same type of gun in the past and had no issues, but this one was a mess! When spraying epoxy primer they...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

I initially intended to paint the bumpers off the car, but with limited room and no good way to support them properly I decided to paint them very loosely on the car. You can't really tell from the pictures but I dont have them snugged up to the fenders, there is about a 1/4" gap between the...

What did you do to / with your XLR today?

Was able to get the makeshift spray booth finished, wiped everything down on the XLR and will hopefully spray the primer tomorrow.

    supercharging my xlr

Those bikes have to be crazy fast! A friend of mine had a Hayabusa which he would frequently ride that thing above 200 mph at extended times, just crazy to me! I'm a Harley guy, like to cruise the speed limit and enjoy the scenery!

    supercharging my xlr

Very impressive! I would of never thought you could achieve even low numbers of boost with just adding a cooling charge and more fuel on a higher compression engine. Sounds like a cool setup. It just shows how far different methods of technology have come, and I haven't been keeping up to date...
