Had the XLR in the shop yesterday and they had to replace the right tank sending unit. Gauge reads correctly now, but the exhaust is louder with a tin like rattling sound. I suspect they had to remove the exhaust system to get the fuel tanks down and did not get everything back together...
I just got my 05 out of storage (6 months) for a drive from Iowa to Connecticut. The first 2 tank fulls registered fine. The last 2, the tank is full but the gas gauge drifts back to about 2/3rds. It still does its start up checks and goes to empty and then full then settles at the actual...
I just had to add another quart to my 05. It happens about every 4000 miles or so. My oil life index is at 55%. No leaks, so it is just using it up. I get the Low Oil Level indicator in the DIC and the dipstick indicates at the bottom of the cross hatched area.
My Warranty is about to go...
How can we determine which Cadillac dealers are certified to work on an XLR? The Cadillac website has a dealer locator feature, but no way to distinguish if they are qualified to work on the XLR. Any thoughts???
My thoughts are that it is a programming issue. When you program certain replacement parts of the car (ie. VCIM or BCM or CD Changer) they have to be programed with your car's vin number and its associated build codes. Don't ask me how to do this - it is just my gut feeling based on...
Richard,
I had all the schematics printed off at work. Since then I have moved and finally think that I shredded the copies that I had after verifying that the audio controls were the same signal paths between the steering wheel and the cd changer for all model years and the 09. As noted...
I believe the key is getting the bluetooth option assigned to the VIN for the car then having the tech program the unit for the car. My tech did not know how to get the feature assigned to the VIN.
Some Dodge guys, when adding steering wheel controls, had to have it added to their vin...
The harness doesn't keep the headlight straight, it simply completes the wiring since the 04 and 05 XLRs don't have the Headlight Control Modules like the newer cars have. To make the new headlights work with the old wiring, you need the jumper harness. You may notice a little 'shaking' of the...
My 05 did the same thing intermittantly on two separate occasions. It was a position sensor. For the most recent occasion about a month ago, the dealer actually had the sensors in stock. That was a first for any dealer I have used, not having to wait at least a week for them to arrive...
I tried this yesterday when leaving work. It is great, but I had to go back and hit "run" again after turning the car off. The other buttons I had selected (Show Position and SW) however were still depressed when I went back to the screen.
In reading the section on bluetooth operation from the 09 owner's manual. It states, "[Talking Mouth Button] (Voice Recognition): Press and release to initiate voice recognition for the Navigation System. See Voice Recognition on page 4-74 for more
information.
Press and hold [Talking Mouth...
Had the car in the shop today and the tech measured the steering wheel control resistance for me. The service manuals for 04-07 all incorrectly report a resistance value of 12.7Kohm when the tech verified mine to be 1.27Kohm --- the same as in the schematics for the 08 and 09 steering wheel...
In my searches for service manuals online, here is what I found over at the corvette forum. It should help those of us with 04's or 05's if you are savvy enough to get it going. Works great on my laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit. It is very similar (no notable differences to my untrained...
