I had the same problem last year after my battery drained. Took the car in and the top had to be "reprogrammed." Not sure what exactly this entailed, but the problem was fixed following the procedure.
Time for a new set of tires and am having trouble finding the OEM michelins. Apparently Michelin no longer is manufacturing run flats. I am hesitant on buying non-run flats as I have heard stories of undercarriage damage while placing the xlr on the roll back.
Any other brand of run flats...

abosolutely!!! I would only use belt dressing to diagnose belt slippage when the belt otherwise appears good....if the chirp goes away with dressing....new belt immediately.

My '04 does the same thing...I think. I never noticed it as I usually have the radio playing. When I first noticed the sound last week, it was only when accelerating. When the accelerator pedal is released, the sound went away. I am going to check the belt condition and will probably replace...

I had the exact same trunk problem with my 04. The problem started after the car sat for a while and the battery drained. Following Battery replacement all seemed to operate as advertised after the windows were reset. The top opened and closed perfectly, but I noticed when attempting to open...
OR you can purchase an alpine living air ozone machine (beware of imitations) for your home. Put it in your car to take care of the smoke smell then clean the air in your home as well.
Works great. I have had the same machine for 18 years with absolutely no problems. Works great for the house!
