Are you able to confirm that the amp is definitely powering up? is the HUD and adaptive cruise operational to confirm that Class2 is all active? edit: and the GMOS is installed, right?

    Back up camera anyone?

The only thing you really lose function-wise when doing it, if you do it right, is the radio info in the HUD. Looks different, I'll grant, but I'll take that in exchange for having usable nav, bluetooth, backup cam (if I wanted one), etc. I'm more about pragmatism than purity, though. Give...

Lucky indeed! I'm so jealous! Hope it turns out ok though, looking forward to hearing how it goes.

    Back up camera anyone?

Cheaper to just replace the whole head unit and hook up a camera to that… with more benefits, too.

    Is that the 32pin?

Huh interesting. That second square connector isn't on the wiring diagram and I didn't notice it before… that potentially complicates things. Of course there's an easy way to test if it's important… see if anything pertaining to steering wheel controls, HUD, or radio stops working if it's...

Yeah, I imagine we might still have to use an adapter for the steering wheel controls, but those are far more readily available (and much less expensive!) than the multitude of bits required to keep the onstar/hud/etc. If we left the steering wheel controls hooked to the changer that'd be our...

The problem there would be control of playback. It's theoretically possible if we figured out the signal trigger that is sent to the changer to switch the audio source, but the appradio wouldn't know what's going on and you'd be at the mercy of your steering wheel controls.

I have a theory… nothing more than a theory, mind you, but a theory that we can unmount the CD changer assembly from the upper assembly and leave that in place to retain the HUD/onstar/etc functionality. I'm pretty close to certain that the only info coming out of the 32pin connector that...

    WTB: 2005 Radio/head unit/CD changer

Yeeeouch. I'm actually hoping to find one that doesn't work quite right (broken display or CD error or whatever) and would be cheap. I just want the boards! :chuckle

    2005 radio part number?

As per the topic, does anyone know the part # for the 2005 radio/head unit/cd changer? edit: Got it. For reference: 10379717

Whoa, that's weird. Al_Jazz is much more qualified to answer than I am, but the big blue one looks like the standard 32pin GM radio connector… the others, I dunno what's what. I hope there's nothing different in the 06+ models? Al has an '05 so it's possible things have changed?

Ok that narrows it down at least, I know not to look for something with a full trim ring… by the way, does the Siri stuff use the car's built-in mic or does it use the Pioneer one?

Do you happen to have the model code for the kit you used?

Hm, interesting. Looks different than the one Al_Jazz used… let me know how it goes!
