Interestingly my Cadillac XLR is 10 years old and still worth around 20K. The car I owned before the XLR was a Mercedes SL500 which was 10 years old when I sold it and it was only bringing 11K
So... the XLR is doing fairly well in terms of retaining it's value.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not a car collector I am a car USER and my XLR is in the shop again today.
With this bit of positive information from Hagerty I will definitely be on the look out for some nice person looking to invest in a future classic car.
Someone may have already posted this September 2015 article, but CHECK THIS OUT!

Yea I have tried just about every GM parts dealer I can find. Many of the parts people I have talked to were aware of the parts shortages to keep the XLR's serviceable.
That's good information and IF I had a new set of headlights right now I probably would disable the DRLs to keep that inner reflector assembly from melting. Our extreme Texas weather is hard on plastic headlights and that's adding to the problem of maintaining the outer cover of the light housings.
I agree .. and unless I am mistaken the XLR was the most expensive GM vehicle to date? Could be because the XLR was designed in Germany and not at Cadillac?
My XLR is a daily driver and honestly has NOT been economical to own in fact it's actually been more expensive to operate than the SL500...
I totally agree the XLR was YEARS ahead and some of the latest Cadillac vehicles have styling and driver's features that were introduced with the XLR.
I am lucky to live in a city with two of the FINEST Cadillac dealerships.... If it not for their support I would have sold this vehicle years ago.
I totally agree.
With the limited production of these vehicles it is easy to understand why GM does not want to produce and stock parts. Somewhere, in some factory (most likely not a GM plant) the dies and tooling exist to produce some of these parts and my understanding is that GM will not...
Prior to buying my XLR I owned a Mercedes SL500. My opinion (for what it worth) is that although the SL is an amazing well built vehicle I prefer the XLR. My XLR is without a doubt my favorite vehicle and I have owned it longer than any car.
I find it interesting that GM has not contacted the...
WOW... that's really good to know.
GM is really dropping the ball on not supporting the XLR ... looks like that "old School" corporate thinking that pushed them into bankruptcy may still be alive and well at GM.
I recently experienced a BAD customer service event when I made some inquiries...
That may be but the part itself changed in 2006 when the big design deficiency (melting DRL housings) was corrected and the housing redesigned. Adaptive (moving) headlights were added and the connector has been changed. You will see several part numbers out there for both left and right XLR...
Yes they fit, some people have mentioned a "shim kit" may be needed to get the proper allignment with the fender. The 2004-2005 headlights were totally discontinued in 2006 I believe.
The 2006 - 2009 XLR headlight assemblies (part numbers in my previous post) have a different connector...
There is a headlight on Ebay right now
This Ebay headlight shows the correct XLR driver's side lamp assembly however it is labeled with an earlier part number. 2007 Cadillac XLR Xenon LH Headlight | eBay
Thank you for the reply and YES the DTS light housings are very similar in design and contour to the vehicle.
I like your idea... buy 2 new right side assemblies and take one apart to replace the melted DRL / reflector in the left side... good thinking
In addition to the DRL's inside the light...
I know this topic has been covered in depth over the last few years but I would like to get some fresh XLR owner feedback on the subject of HEADLIGHTS.
I own a 2005 Cadillac XLR with melted DRL lights inside rapidly deteriorating headlight housings.
As we know 2004 and SOME 2005 Cadillac...
Just in case you need to replace your seat control bezel here is the procedure:
(gm part number for the driver's side is 88991573 available from gmpartsdirect for about $54.00)
Please see attached photo.
The seat really should be removed to do this properly however did OK with a short...
The Plastic pin to pull
Just pull gently by hand. No tools required for this project except I used a dull pair of side cutters to remove the plastic pin.
Over the past few years I have noticed some water draining from inside my passenger door. After some strong storms last month I had water inside both doors so I decided to take some action. Although water may get inside the door from a variety of places I opted to change the wiper or felt...
