Anyone install idatalink on the XLR

Idatalink only works with single wire GMLAN. I have been recording the stock radio's Class 2 messages and been experimenting with a Raspberry PI 4 to mimic the messages. That Raspberry may make a good car radio yet; has more computational power than all the modules in the XLR combined.

XLR rear end hops over bumps

This is NOT my area of expertise, but I went with wider back wheels ( staggered: I think they are 315s now) and I get less wheel hop and waddle (side to side movement) on the road.

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

Corsa exhaust system: Around $2200 to purchase, another $400 to $500 to install, if you can't do it yourself*. Almost 3K, after the fat lady sings. Yea great, just wonderful....go for it.

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

It's not off a Z06; my mistake. Just stock 2009 and later Corvette C6 x-pipe. Used to be a lot cheaper.... but like all things.

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

Drone sucks, but a little drone happens if you want open pipes. ~70 dB (A weighted) is acceptable. Also, Corsa put their resonators in the wrong place; too close to the headers. I never saw Corsa proudly showing off their company XLR; their too busy working with Corvettes. That's were they put...

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

That's not it. That's some old crap.

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

The X pipe is too far from the headers and not sized right. The best X pipe is the GM design off a Corvette C6 Z06; they know what they are doing. The front half fits perfectly on an XLR; used around $250. Baffles screw up the exhaust flow. Corsa is for people who can't weld.

    Best Exhaust? 2008 model

Overpriced and screwed up the X pipe design.

    XLR vs The EVOQ

Yea, you are right. I saw 4200 lbs on the door tag, but that's total acceptable weight with fat lady riding shotgun.

    XLR vs The EVOQ

When you fill-up at the gas station be thankful the XLR is mostly fiberglass and not sheet metal. The EVOQ was pushing 5000 lbs.

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

I believe so. All the capabilities of Tech 2 are available on the Tech2Win software.

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

Yup, that be me. A really good product but absolutely no support from the manufacturer; that's why I don't recomend it here. Software came on a mini CD-ROM disk(couldn't get my drive to read it). I had to find the software on the manufacturer's chinese website, didn't have the Tech2Win. Found a...

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

ACDelco's TIS online website still accepts the use of a Tech 2 for programming modules, but you will need a certified serial to USB adapter from the Tech 2 to the computer. Serial communications are slooow. AN MDS plugs directly into the computer USB port and communicates 3x faster. If all you...

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

New Tech 2s cost over two grand ten years ago with the GMLAN adaptor. Dealerships save money by using older technology for diagnostics.

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

Your absolutely right, but it is so nice to do diagnostic work on a laptop (the screen resolution is way better) and you can screen snapshot the car data and post online to other techs.

    Help! Tech 2 Recommendations

A good link; that's it. It's a Chinese copy so check the return policy if it doesn't work out.

The ways: Subcribe to TIS and pay them $99 a year to rent Tech2Win software or click on 05 Drand Daddy's link above and buy: V2019.07 GM MDI GM MDI 2 GDS2 gds tech 2 software Sata HDD for Vauxhall Opel/Buick and Chevrolet (it includes the tech2Win, the XLR can not use the other software 2010+...

    Mufflers

Yea, the stock mufflers are way two heavy. Get rid of them and your vehicle will go faster and use less fuel, IF you do it right. I am pretty good with TIG welding stainless steel. I'm using a Corvette X pipe, then some Vibrants in parallel, followed by two Magnaflows in parallel, with some...
