Yes, but the XCR is still much cooler to drive. I don't see anyone in a parking lot stopping either a BMW or Blackwing to talk to the owner about their car. I have been constantly stopped and asked about my car. Most think it is brand new. They are surprised to hear they quit making it years ago.
See if this helps.
Pull the chrome trim ring down on the shifter stalk.
Loosen the screw that holds the shift knob in place. (Torx T-15)
Open the ashtray door.
Starting from the rear, pull the console up, moving from the rear to the forward corners to free it from the retaining clips.
Disconnect...
Not knowing what I'm talking about, but can you tie the end of the old cable to the new cable and pull it through? Hopefully someone else on this site has a better answer.
Beautiful car and I hope you get even half as many comments as I get about my car. You might end up spending more time in the parking lot answering questions than shopping.
Have you checked your battery? The XLR is very touchy about them. Hopefully someone else on the site will have better knowledge about your problem than me.
Definitely check for the cylinder leak, but could it be condensate. How often do you drive the car and is it for short distances? Could you leave it at a repair shop overnight and have them start it to get their advice. It shouldn't cost anything for an estimate.
I have a black 09 and mine does not collect dirt on the rear any more than elsewhere. Being black, it REALLY shows dirt. The white should not show nearly as much.
