Hey Steve, Welcome, I'm not too far away from you, up in the San Fernando Valley. Maybe we can meet up some time. I own an '05 also, Blue Steel in color. Bruce

    Battery Tender?

I have a few Battery Tenders (Deltran) and one CTEK model. The Ctek is fancier, with 4 different modes, but they all seem pretty good. Better than a dead battery anyhow. Bruce

    End of an Era

Glad you are okay, but it hurts to see a beautiful XLR meet an untimely demise. I suspect (hope) someone will save her though. Bruce

Height of front end to ground

OP asked for the dim at the fog lights. I will go measure at CL of wheel openings. Okay, Front = 27-1/4, rear = 27-3/4. IMHO, car looks much better than stock height. Car is currently covered in back garage, so no current pictures. I did not notice any appreciable change in ride. Almost...

Height of front end to ground

I am right at 8 inches even. I lowered it on stock bolts and bushings, and take bumps at an angle. I have not added the little coaster wheels like on my Corvette. Bruce

    Satin nickel paint question

I looked at a bunch before I found a clean one. Don't get in too big of a rush. Meanwhile, is Ruth Ann still selling hers? It was immaculate when I saw it. Try and PM "Lolasmom" Good luck in the hunt, they are nice cars to own. And read up here, lots of little info to learn before and after a...

    Where Did Everyone Go?

Say it ain't so... It's black on black, correct? Gosh, has it been that long since I've seen it? Anyhow, send me details, I have a friend who practically begs to buy mine every time I see him. Best of luck. Bruce

Proud New XLR owner who was going to wait two introduce until nemesis was running right.

Welcome to the forum. I can commiserate with your electrical gremlins. I will ask if you have checked in the trunk. Open the trunk lid. In the left rear corner, under the carpet, in the very aft left corner of the trunk is a removable plastic cover. Lift it up. Should be two computers and the...

    CNC, New XLR Owner

Welcome to the forum. I was thinking "gold mist? I don't think Ive seen a gold XLR." With only around 300 made I guess I know why. Anyhow, welcome, and enjoy the car. Hope you two have a nice "get acquainted' cruise to Colorado. Bruce

    Where Did Everyone Go?

I'm still a member, and visit almost daily but free time is precious. So unless I am very hard over on an opinion, or have some unique insight to the problem I don't post too often. I do enjoy the forum, and the wealth of information available here, definitely my first resource for difficult...

tire pressure with reg tires ....not run flat

I didn't say it was worth it, just tried to point out there is valid science behind the idea.

tire pressure with reg tires ....not run flat

In response to the original question, I run my tires at 32F, 34R. Your opinion may vary. And as much as I hate wading into Nitrogen discussion, Nitrogen is more stable at temp, and drier than compressed air. That's the reason it is used in aircraft and most race car tires. That said, I run air...

Gizmo, that's probably the coolest thing (morphing picture or whatever it is) I've seen in a while! Bruce

    new here

Welcome to the forum, and nice sounding car. Yes, there are a few points you need to watch out for, water stowage in under the trunk floor in the left rear is one that comes to mind. Left corner of the trunk, near the rear bumper, under the carpet, there is a panel, lift it up. See the computers...

Looking for a XLR car club in SoCal

Cadillac Kings and others do not seem interested in our cars. A few years back several of us from here met at Sportsman Lodge in Studio City over Thanksgiving. That was a nice run. Otherwise I am not aware of any XLR clubs. Bruce
