    Relay noises?

Good morning all, interested in determining if some of the sounds I’m hearing are normal XLR behavior or an item I should be digging into. Two sounds in particular: 1. Distinct metal on metal squeaking, usually heard 5-10 seconds after I open or close a door. Usually one single squeak like...

Install new height adjuster screws - possible without disconnecting control arm? (Resolved)

Adding final update, buttoned up the job tonight, got the photo of one new versus the four I removed. Holy smokes.

    Alternator

10440924 is the PN you’re looking for, discontinued…. The various rebuilt ones on rockauto all out of stock too, so I’m guessing that’s the story at all the usual retailers which brought you here.

    a new kind of debt!

lol. If anybody at that company knows what an XLR is they’ll ask for money up front :)

Install new height adjuster screws - possible without disconnecting control arm? (Resolved)

Posting more info, as I made an interesting discovery last night. Disconnecting the rear UCA from the chassis (as well as shock, sway bar link, and height sensor) doesn’t get enough clearance to drop the LCA far enough to get the height adjuster out of the spring. There isn’t enough clearance...

    Shocks XLR

That actually makes sense. I ended up a tad high on my fronts, so I’ll be adjusting them down to get within range (based on the physical measurements) and I’d expect by bringing them down slightly the at rest value would come up just a bit. Should bring me right to 2.5.

    Shocks XLR

Circling back to this, got my tech2 back in action and am halfway through the project. Findings so far. Unsurprisingly, mickey is correct: the springs don't sag; my ride height drop was a result of the rubber pads on my adjuster screws being completely gone (and two of my four screws were...

    2006 XLR-V

Link to homelink They only list 07+ but the instructions worked for my 06. After you input your car it asks for the manufacturer of your garage door opener er and then provides specific instructions.

That 56 - wow!!! Pics? What’s the story? How does it drive?

Install new height adjuster screws - possible without disconnecting control arm? (Resolved)

Thanks! I looked at that Kent Moore tool for the trim height adjustment but wasn’t sure it would get me the clearance I needed to get the bolt out the whole way. Good to see it worked and I’m surprised my search-Fu didn’t get that thread before but thank you! Ended up being not bad...

Install new height adjuster screws - possible without disconnecting control arm? (Resolved)

Above is front old vs new. Below is one of my rear screws. Check your height adjusters!

Install new height adjuster screws - possible without disconnecting control arm? (Resolved)

Have a replacement set of height adjuster screws to replace the ones on my 06. Found mine were missing the rubber pads entirely, and one of them was even snapped in half! Anyways, I can jack up the spring, and with the shock and sway bar disconnected, I can get reeeeeaaaaaaal close to clearing...

VVT solenoid actuator oil leak UPDATE

Knocked out the other two this morning. Summarizing the experience since I came across some confusing info out there. 12567085 was the PN for my 06 for the replacement magnets. Official procedure (attached photo) is to take out the black center cap on the magnet and use a 15/64" dowel rod in...

VVT solenoid actuator oil leak UPDATE

Thank you gentleman. Can confirm I got both halves of the magnet casing off (first one split during removal, although on my second one I got it off in one piece). Used a plastic scraper to take that white adhesive/sealant off the mating surface and took it down to bare metal, and used brake...

VVT solenoid actuator oil leak UPDATE

Two possibly dumb questions. 1 - during removal I bumped the VVT actuator by a 1/4 turn or so. Do those care about rotation or is it just a push/pull action? As in, have I royally made matters worse? 2 - the reside left over, does that need to be removed or, provided I have an unbroken ring...

    PS pulley accessibility? [resolved]

Buttoning up this thread. Solution: removing the PS pulley required removal of the PS fluid reservoir. Putting back together was 50Nm for each of the 3 PS pulley bolts and 25Nm for the tensioner bolts. I happened to check the VVT magnet plugs and found oil in them so I’m going to do that job...

VVT solenoid actuator oil leak UPDATE

just made the same discovery on my 06 LC3. Have a set of 12567085 on the way. Is there a good link for what I need to know for replacing these? One plug plus three fasteners for each, it can’t be that easy. Any gasket or RTV I need to use? What’s the center pin locator referenced above?

    PS pulley accessibility? [resolved]

Here we go. Removing PS reservoir did the trick, those hoses are obnoxious to pull off. Pulley or tensioner look like they need attention?

    PS pulley accessibility? [resolved]

bolt got out, I move the ac line ever so slightly and the bolt came across the little bend in the line without interference. I don’t have clearance to bring it up the side of the engine, but currently thinking I’ll drain the PS fluid and remove the reservoir.
