I've never heard of holding the plus & neg cable together to reboot. I'm glad that worked for you. Do you still have the original battery? If you replaced the cables, just removing the power should have rebooted the system.

Nose first. Arms should slide in and out to align. You may have to use a floor jack to raise to get lift under pucks.

Sounds like the same thing I hear. "Whirrling Sound" Happens when going slow or just idling. I don't hear it at driving speeds. As suggested, I'll have the dealer check it out while GM is still paying.
