 My thought on smelling WD-40 soaked into something absorbent like Alcantara, although others may like the scent. And I’m thinking it might stain fabric??
Hair spray can possibly smell better, would probably take a few tries to get all of it. Alcantara is finicky to mess with (I...
Ummm ... forget not being an XLR tech and not knowing how to fix XLR’s - whoever did that doesn’t appear to know anything about repairing ANY kind of car.
Sandy - please send Greg condolences from Mike & I. We got to talk to him quite a bit at the 15th Anniversary trip, learning about his military experience, etc. Absolutely stinks that happened to him, really sorry to hear it.
I can throw out a recommendation on getting the paint re-done - if you can swing it, forget about the dealership and look for someone who paints classic cars or customs. I had a similar chip issue where the dealer wanted to re-do the entire panel. I was lucky enough to have a VERY picky friend...
Maybe try Barrett-Jackson or Hagerty, see if they can help on expert evidence on diminution in value due to the repairs needed. Sorry for your misfortune & good luck.
Oh my, I feel your pain on your baby getting messed up - if it was me, I’d try to track down whoever did it & make them feel some pain. So glad you had a happy ending & it’s all fixed.
Thought I’d start this thread for entertainment, for your serious, funny, or informative comments.
Biggest one I can think of is toilet paper. It seems to be as unobtainable as a multitude of XLR parts.
Also on the list is any form of ramen noodles, also unobtainable - and one of the...
Thanks! Detailing is a hobby of mine that I often hate going through but the results are worth it! We’ve had the red one 10 years and the black one 8 years, both were used and I’ve just plugged away at shaping them up over time.
On the grill - limited edition (usually based on color, like...
I used my social distancing time wisely by getting up close and personal with our XLR’s - they’ve tested negative. Two layers of Zaino on each today, wipe down the V with Z8 (those aren’t scuffs above the “Supercharged” but a reflection off the wall), and the V got to be a mirror for its...
Today I washed both XLR’s. Thought the wind and rain we’ve had this week would finish off the pollen, NOT. So they got hustled back in the garage quick.
Tomorrow or the next day, going to Zaino both. Usually I do that during a conference I have in May, but I’m thinking the conference is...

Gord is right. We replaced our V sills and had to bend, spindle & mutilate the originals to get them out. There’s probably a way to remove them without doing that, but the way they’re attached it’s very hard. And there was no reason to try to preserve ours, we were replacing them...
I have the twin of your car & got my mats from Lloyd’s. Got them a shade darker so I wouldn’t have a failed match, with “XLR” embroidered in red. Check out my garage for pics.
We have the license plate frames & got them from eBay. Other than that I’d r commend a Google search.
Pretty true - my dad lived through the Great Depression and said if you had cash in the bank, you were ok. Otherwise... not so good. Rich from the stock market? Gone. Poor and no cash in the bank? Meet poorer. There weren’t credit cards back then, maybe some store credit available at best...
Took mine out for a long drive today. Stayed at least 6’ away from everyone. Used WOT to blow away and/or cook any viruses that got near. Affordable even with premium since coronavirus has dumped gas prices.
I’m not offended (at least) Gord. I haven’t gotten a lot of emails but have read plenty of stories about what companies are doing. I distrust most companies “philanthropic” motives, because there’s usually a financial self-interest underlying it. If you’re donating supplies it might end this...
I’ve bought various detailing products from a lot of different companies. During this time, all of them keep sending me sales emails and announcements they are open for business. However, I want to give a shout out to Adam’s Polishes. Here is an excerpt of the email they sent:

These babies don’t like sitting and a fair number of people have a new electronic problem when they take them out of storage. It might just need a “reboot” by disconnecting the battery. Go to google advanced search Google Advanced Search, put in *disconnect battery*, then go down and enter...
We have an ‘06 base with 45k miles and an ‘07 V with 22k mikes. Only major repair was fixing oil leaks in both, done because covered by warranty. Otherwise they weren’t so bad that we couldn’t have just ignored them.
Both cars are awesome and, knock on wood, haven’t given us problems. We...
