    Cooling System Tee Disintegrated

A brass tee would likely work just fine, but it has to be 3/8" across the two opposing sides and 1/4" at the cross of the tee. John B.

    Cooling System Tee Disintegrated

In typical automotive fashion, the tee comes from GM as part number 10354454, but it's not just the tee. You get so much more, as in three hoses, six clamps AND the tee. What a deal, right? Best price I have found so far is right about $100 shipped to me. Sigh. John B.

Center Brake Light Part Number and Availabilty Here

I received and installed this part and it fits and works like it should. The molding along the top edge of the light needs to be swapped from the old light to the new one. John B.

    Cooling System Tee Disintegrated

Auto parts stores are not helping here. Two different NAPA stores are trying to push a vacuum fitting into service, one you trim off the smaller fittings to get to the sizes you need, but my impression is that the material is not tough enough for cooling system duty. O'Reilley and AutoZone have...

    Cooling System Tee Disintegrated

On my 04, there is a cooling system tee that joins the 1/4" line coming off the throttle body with the 3/8" line running from the top of the radiator to the surge/recovery tank. I started smelling coolant the other day and was able to trace it to a leak at this plastic tee, which is fortunately...

New Member - 04 XLR in AZ

My car is over at my detailer of choice, the guys at Wax That Asset, in San Tan Valley, AZ. I'm having them massage some product into the exterior paint to protect it somewhat. I'm not good at working on a black vehicle finish. I'll take some pictures when I pick it up, as it likely will only...

Help! 2008 XLR - Replacing Fog Light Bulbs

I don't know about the headlight part of your question except to say that you might try replacing the Xenon bulbs themselves. Like halogens, I suppose, they likely get a bit dimmer with age. Brightness isn't everything, at least "apparent" brightness. LED light tends to be concentrated more...

Got rid of my Mag Ride Shocks!

Finished up last night by replacing the rear shocks. The old ones were leaking just as badly as the front ones were. Top two bolts are 13mm and the bottom bolt and nut are 24mm. You need to disconnect the "locating link"/rear tie rod to make room to r&r. The link has a 17mm nut and a 6mm Allen...

I have window tint guy I have been using for 25+ years, Keith with Stick To It window tinting. He's over near Thunderbird and 23rd Ave and operates out of his house (air conditioned garage!). I recommend him highly. John B.

    Visor/Vanity Mirror Light Question

Mine (2004) go in from the sides, so not sure if a change was made. I attempted to remove a bulb but it didn't want to budge. Mine work, I'm ultimately trying to find an LED replacement (type 74?), however. I was hoping they aren't secured in the socket like my door courtesy bulbs. John B.

    Rear swaybar parts list '04-'09

Just ordered my parts from GMPartsdirect.com with a 5% discount code they provide. With shipping my total was $218.28. I went with the "skinny" bar. John B.

    Visor/Vanity Mirror Light Question

I've seen it written here that once the light bulbs in the visor, the ones on either side of the vanity mirrors, burn out, that replacing the visor is the sole option to fix them. Is that because the bulbs cannot be removed or because the bulbs are not available? Thanks in advance, John B.

"Service Ride Control" and top not working

That's what I do at work. Show it to the customer and tell them that the ten cent part just cost them $130 for a service call. I just present it a bit more diplomatically. John B.

"Service Ride Control" and top not working

I have the rear of my '04 on jack stands in preparation to change the rear shocks. On the driver's side, near the rear bumper, is the drain for the module "cubby" in the trunk. I spied the root of all evil, as I'm an appliance repair guy: The factory used a fitting we call a "duck bill" on the...

    04 XLR Interior - What's Leather/What Isn't?

This is probably just ignorance on my part, but can someone describe what, besides the seating surfaces, is actually leather in the interior? Before I attack some unknown surface with Lexol cleaner, then preservative, I should probably find out if I'm doing it any favors. Anything that isn't...

    The XLR tail lamps comception.

As I said, I like options. Who cares if your tail lights have an access panel cut into them? I wouldn't. It's not going to depreciate my car any more than it already has and will continue to. I'll probably cut into mine. John B.

    The XLR tail lamps comception.

To more directly address #2 in Ian's post above, a company called VetteTronics will redo all the LED's in one (1) tail/brake light housing for (as I recall) $700. You have to remove the housing, pack it very carefully and pay to ship it to them. They include the return shipping in their price...
