No its hard to find anyone that works on them. You use like a turkey baster to suck the fluid out. There are several sources for fluid . gm of course but its expensive. Ill send you a list of fluids that work.

Did he check the fluid level. I recommend removing the fluid from the canister then removing the canister . check the inside with a fine tooth brush and fresh fluid. Do not use any spray cleaner . reinstall and fill to top.

Yeah the trunk should stay open . the two gas shocks holds it up not the pump. If it does not stay up by itself it wears heavily on the pump.
