    My Bluetooth and Smartphone Solution

This is about a bluetooth interface that re-transmits on FM that is received on the existing system like an FM station.

    My Bluetooth and Smartphone Solution

I have hands free phone, A2DP CD quality music and turn by turn voice navigation and did not tear into the dash. https://www.xlr-net.com/forums/cadillac-xlr-technical-discussion/7948-mp3-ipod.html

    Gear shift weirdness

Beautiful day at 75 and sunny here. I went out for what may be the last of what has been a very sparse season for me. Then it happened.. The transmission would shift down when I went + with the shifter. Both + and - resulted in a downshift. Like many gremlins before I was hoping it to be...

    My Bluetooth and Smartphone Solution

The big drawback from this method is the audio quality can never be better than that of FM. A true bluetooth interface will sound a lot better. If your happy with the quality then go for it.

Which is the best year XLR???

YES it does. "Rarely" using Hp is a personal choice, of which I do not concur. BTW there are more differences between a base and a V than Hp. I have no problem watching where I'm going when driving and know when to back off just comes as second nature after decades of practice. I certainly...

    Back up camera anyone?

There is way more to it than you may realize. I doubt seriously you will find a Cadillac head unit that will work.

    Back up camera anyone?

To each their own. IMHO the filler plates look like someone tried to fit in something that doesn't belong. Which is exactly what it is. I much prefer adding a bluetooth interface and using my phone for Nav and Music at a fraction of the cost and effort.

    Back up camera anyone?

But that does not maintain the stock size, look or functions. There are always trade-offs.

    front end protection

I have Xpel on multiple cars, including my XLR-V, and really like it. I've seen the self healing work. Whatever brand consider A pillars, driving lights, mirrors, leading edge near rear wheels and inside the door finger pocket. I also had it put on the headlights, but that required using...

    Carmel Automobilia 2015

Hope you are doing OK now. This on again, off again is more frustrating than not being able to go from the beginning. This entire season has been pretty much a bust, I've had one cruise in and only one other trip out. :ugh:

    Carmel Automobilia 2015

I was hopeful about attending after the foster found a home and is doing well. However, today's doctors visit snuffed out that hope. I will not be attending :( Hope a good time is had by all.

    AppRadio 4

Not confused at all. My point was that this information can be displayed conveniently and wirelessly with out a Tech 2 or changing out the head unit.

    AppRadio 4

It does look nice, but a Tech 2 is not required for this. Look into the phone app called Torque. I use it with a OBDII to bluetooth bridge. Gives performance specs and most all car data including trouble codes.

I thought "socially unacceptable" was having a huge Pontiac signature on a XLR forum? Maybe not, I'm not much on judging political correctness.

    AppRadio 4

It's all been pretty clear to me, but then I'm a high tech type person. Since your use of technology is so low swapping wouldn't be of any value to you. Perhaps having a decent navigation system would be attractive?

    AppRadio 4

I think you misunderstand completely. I don't have one but have been following the thread. The only thing lost is the display of the radio functions in the HUD, the rest is still there, the CD and DVD. Built in Bluetooth, phone integration software and the ability to add a rear view camera...

    MP3 / iPod

The AUX-1F interface provides an auxiliary audio input (3.5mm stereo socket) that many, like myself, use to interface a separate Bluetooth bridge. It is described very well earlier in this thread. I use a Kinivo BTC450 for a Bluetooth interface that plugs into the AUX1F. With an AUX1F you...

    MP3 / iPod

I remember now, you are correct. What is nicer about the connector? Not that big of a deal, really. Just curious how to improve on a simply molded female socket :dunno:

    MP3 / iPod

Did you look to see if the wiring harness was there and only the XM module (and the wart since it is an '05) is missing? You don't need the module only the harness. What is the difference between an AUX-1F and an AUX-1F Premium? Have a safe trip
