You can get the month and year off the sticker on the door jamb. Some have information under the carpet in the trunk on the left side near the hydraulic unit Not sure what the dates indicate. You can see my trunk date is 10/30 but the sticker is December.

General Motors Driving Cycle Some generic OBDII tools are able to clear some (EPA) codes. True, the pure readers can't. Not all tools are created equal. I have cleared codes with my phone using the Torque app. and a bluetooth <-> OBDII bridge.
