I really love that Blue Steel color! Acceptable miles, too. I wish this one was a little bit newer. 05 Blue Steel & Shale Wonder if it would be worth taking a chance on? I think this is the last year before the adaptive lighting came in, so I would think at least headlights would be cheaper.

Well, apparently you are right, mickeytee. Somebody called in and put a deposit on it before I could get there. The dealer said they would let me know if the depositor doesn't follow thru. Oh well--the quest continues!

Ran across one in my own backyard! More than I wanted to pay, but...maybe. It's a brand new listing--I would hope for more pictures soon. Carfax attached to add some context. 09 with 51,154 mi at $23,980 What do we think here?

A big screen upgrade for the XLR?

Accidentally ran across this. I think I'd like to have one of these! If you would too, we need to puff the video as much as we can. You Tuber building dash screen upgrade

I'm surprised that I often see a recall note in these ads. Why in the world would there still be recalls out on cars this old?? Did the owners just not pay attention?

Welcome! I'm somewhat envious that you already have a car--I'm still shopping and deliberating. You can definitely learn a lot from the old hands here! I'm still assimilating it all. BTW, do update your car in the Registry. It's a great way to keep track of the whole XLR fleet. I'm using...

Thanks for the info! I've seen a system that does that somewhere before, i think.

Just musing a little here. This is the cheapest one I can find that's not salvage, etc., and it really doesn't seem bad. I'm tempted to just take a flyer on it. If it proved to be a dog, I could still probably sell it for something, and I wouldn't be out too much. '08 with 114,708 miles at...

Ah, I think I'm with you now! But I don't think I've run across a single one like that. I'd expect that type to be on a rebuilt title, and I haven't seen that anywhere.

Yikes! You ain't kidding, robert.ogden2009. Here's one that's a little pricey: $3,000 headlight! It's funny--right under the thing is an offer to finance through PayPal. Imagine financing a headlight!

I read this over and I think I've got your point now, mickeytee. Is this the kind of car you mean? If it's really all OK except for the front damage, it looks like a good deal. 2009 Platinum Salvage Title Let's see--there's bumper and grille damage as stated (one fog light missing) and I...

    If anyone wants a V

This is by far the best price/mileage combination I've seen on one of these. 2008 V 65719mi $34288 Of course, who knows what other issues lie in the background? But that's always the case.

    Inspections & service contracts

Due to the good advice I've had from the members here, I am shopping for one of the later years, with about 70,000 miles or so, and the fewer previous owners the better. I want to keep the price in the mid or at least not out of the teens, and I do like bright colors or white. However, I might...

Well, yes, there is that. But everybody here has committed themselves to the cause anyway.

    Inspections & service contracts

Been thinking about what I'll do when I do find the right car. Does anybody have a good inspection service to recommend? I've used Lemon Squad, and they haven't won my total confidence. They are good, though, in that they go to the lot (or wherever) to see the car. Dealers usually don't want...

https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/108923277 What do you think of this? The car is too good (if as stated) and the price is too low to make sense. The dealer is supposed to be in Howard City, MI, but the link goes to one in Alaska. (The second time I clicked on it it did show...

a car that has suffered indignities

I'd like to know if those hood scoops work. That would be the only excuse I could imagine for this. But there are no engine pics, so you can't tell. If they're fake, it just makes it more awful, IMHO. should not have been done!

    Buying philosophy

Well, I'm not expecting high miles, and cheaper to maintain does sound good. Part of the problem is the sales disparity. The '04 and '05 model sold so much better that there's a lot more of them to choose from. The middle years are available but much scarcer, and the '09s just practically...

Yes, flood cars are the worst, mickeytee! I'd not want one of those. As regards other salvage units, I've seen some with (apparently) minor damage, but what I've read in other posts here about the cost of replacing just a headlight or tail light scares me. So I'm pretty sure they are not for...

    Buying philosophy

I appreciate the advice I've received from the members here since I've been shopping. I'm wondering if there's a rule everybody can agree on? Let's see. As regards XLRs specifically, in 2024, and for similar prices in similar condition, is it better to buy: An older car with lower miles...
