Yes, I think it was the Lockpick. That's the thing you use to play your iPod through the radio, correct? That's what they disconnected. I've since reconnected it and have had no issues.
Nonetheless, I plan on eventually doing the mod on the Corvette Forum to eliminate the lockpick. I don't...
Welcome, and I'm sorry to hear of your issues as well.
Check a few of the other threads going on right now; I had similar issues before I bought the battery tender...and a new battery. Our cars are pretty sensitive to low voltage. Yes, I leave it plugged in (to the battery tender) all the...
Here's a copy of what happened to my car, along with a few of the diagnostic tests that were performed. I hope this helps - it might help someone in the future if it doesn't help you. Note that the DRR is the Digital Radio Receiver (Satellite Radio Receiver)
Electrically, they are fairly similar.
Checking some things with a halogen light is nice - like paint. I personally use an ohmmeter to check electrical flow.
One has no idea what might lurk under an electrical connection unless one TAKES IT APART and cleans it. The cable/frame could be...
It cost me $50 at the Chevy dealer to have them diagnose it and fix it (I was really afraid it would be something dramatic and expensive when I brought them my car with the same issue you had). I'm glad it worked out for you!
PS I keep a spare door switch pad handy - the part is cheap and, as...
Bad grounds can cause a variety of odd problems. There are 6(-ish) grounds on the body of the car that, if corroded, will cause bizarre issues. I also had an issue with the satellite radio receiver putting voltage on the data bus, which made everything very wacky (until everything died).
Good...
Never a happy sight indeed.
FWIW, I had a semi-similar incident with my XLR. It turned out that the satellite radio module was putting voltage to the databus. I had forgotten about it until now.
I don't recall what was replaced- I should still have the service record on it - I'll see if I...
They are generally just database-generated sales solicitations to get you to the dealer to detail you to buy a new car. They are only as good as your negotiation skills! ;)
It could be caused by many different things, up to and including a bad gas cap. Did the gas cap get checked as part of your emissions testing (my state does check them). Maybe they damaged something when they checked it? It's a pretty cheap fix.....
Thanks Rob!!!!
BTW, nice choice of words - "the other side". Did you know that Cadillac tried to use The Doors' song "Break On Through" for the release of the XLR and to introduce the new "Arts & Science" design of the upcoming Cadillacs? Of course you did. :) But Jim Morrison's estate wouldn't...
I had the *EXACT* same problem. It wound up being the door swith (the rubber pad one on the outside of the door). It was a very inexpensive repair.
The switch was thinking it was getting pushed all the time, just like you were trying to open the door all the time (hence the up/down/up/down)...
THANK YOU to everyone for another great event!!! What a blast, and THANK YOU for posting the great pictures!!!!
It's always a good time with the XLR folks, and it was wonderful to meet the old friends as well as the new ones.
Until next time!!!!
