No, you have a fault in the dash start switch if that can happen. I have an idea there is a thread here on that fault, and/or is there a recall on it? This could be your problem.
BTW, the brake vacuum reservoir is pretty standard across all domestic vehicles. A standard test of brake vacuum is...
Shell is a good brand, but while Cadillac state that the XLR will run on regular grade gas, your X should be run on premium grade, the engine management will take advantage of it.
I might have read that the Shell top grade is a gas to liquid process (ie the opposite of cracking) and that is it...
You should get a warning in the DIS if the shifter is in the wrong gear or the brake pedal isn't pressed. As you don't mention that, I would look elsewhere. It is possible for a new battery to be defective, it happens. Analysing symptoms at a distance is unreliable, but the firmer brake pedal...
What brand (not grade, though premium is recommended) of gas are you using? The CEL should not be on. It might be worth trying a premium brand of gas (if you are not currently) for a while to see if that helps.
The old hose is back on my XLR. I like to replace hoses after about 10 years, so it is hardly urgent.
The 'problem' is with the new hose, I know what the old hose is. I'm trying to work out what to order to get a hose that will fit, given the error with the ones supplied.
Thanks for replying.
I don't know about others, but apart from in-line flex hoses, I haven't seen a GM brake hose that doesn't terminate with a banjo fitting from models years back, 1960s? So, no it isn't possible to have the hose the wrong way around. The hose is the correct hose in every...
Does anyone know for certain what the thread form is on the nipple connecting the brake line to the flex hose for a 2004 XLR?
I have a new Delco flex hose and it will not fit on the nut. I have bought a replacement nipple which states it is 10mm x 1mm and that will not fit into the new flex...
To add a lighter note.
I once took my XLR on a long journey as you do. Day came when the fob failed to open the trunk. No problem I'll get the key and... Aha, that wasn't my brightest ever move. I had locked the bag with the key in it in the trunk. I was a very long way from access to a...
Hi all
I have been asked to help with setting up the distributor angle on a 1995 GMC (might be Chevy) Day van. It is the design where there is a big disk being used to measure crank (or cam) angle as part of the distributor. I don't know much about it but as I have a Tech-2 I have been asked...
You might want to carry a spare fob battery in the trunk too. That way if a fob battery goes out, once you are back in to your XLR, you have a spare handy and can get the fob working again.
There is a section in the w/s manual about what to do when a car refuses to scan correctly. And yes, I seem to think I have read of this before too. Some years back, on this forum.
Here is one:
