I fall into that "price was the least important consideration" category. I wanted THIS car since I drove the first one my dealership delivered in 2004. If I were in the buy/sell business I'd probably have a different approach.
I can't speak for all, but most of the people on this forum are...
1- There were 311 black/black XLR-V's made in 2006. How many of them are still around in arguably very good condition with less than 50k miles? It took me two years to find the car I wanted and price was not a major factor. Certainly not 10% above what the books says. Which leads me to...

All due respect I disagree. I think $33,000 is pretty good for a V with that kind of mileage on it. There aren't going to be many out there with under 50,000 miles on them. Not if you want black on black. It is a specialty car so only somebody who really wants it is going to buy it. You might...
I managed to negotiate a Lexus platinum used car warranty for five years/50,000 miles four $5700. Of that I contributed a grand total of $500. The dealer paid the rest. It was a slow Sunday in the hot desert of Bakersfield California! [emoji41]

Welcome! I too own an '06 XLR V all black. And, like you I studied the market for several years before taking the plunge.
My V was a one-owner traded at a Lexus dealer across the street from the Cadillac store he bought it from so I was able to get the entire service history. And, despite my...
I think they're considered 1/2 inch. I ordered these on eBay since they seemed to be the closest match to the OEM clips.

Just today I noticed that I'm missing a couple of the little black push-pin type fasteners that attach my trunk lid liner. Couldn't find a suitable match at my local pep-boys. Anyone know where I can find these without having to schlep to the dealer?
Regarding the heat coming from beneath the console, I installed a thicker plate between the exhaust and the torque tube and it's made a noticeable difference in heat transfer. I did it when I had my Corsa kit installed since that seemed to be the most logical approach.

Rexster is absolutely correct. Finding a one owner vehicle with verified CARFAX and service history is a plus. It took me two years of serious searching before I found the perfect V. The one thing I would add is budget in a good warranty. I purchased my '06 V from a Lexus dealership and...
I went with the 255/40/19 Continental ExtremeContact DW from TireRack (front and rear) and they're a huge improvement over the Pirelli Eufori run-flats it came with. That, coupled with new shocks and upgraded breaks and it handles better than ever!
I did invest the money I saved on run-flats...
I have the Corsa kit on my '06 V an it works perfectly. I don't know of any changes between 06/07 that would impede your successful installation. I called Corsa before installing mine because it was not spec'd for the "V". I was told "officially" that they did NOT test it on the V series and...
That seems to be quite logical.
I would add that the "A/C OFF" portion is really shorthand for "compressor off" as all three of the incidents I had seemed to occur when I was looking for heat. Also it corresponds to the "A/C OFF" button on the HVAC module.

It happened to me three times in as many months. The first two times it went away within a day or so. The last time it was still on almost a week later when I brought it into the mechanic. I should also mention that the temperature gauge stops working in conjunction with the DIC message.
