    New member from Springfield Ohio.

jkwoodrow, The XLR is a lot easier to get in and out of than a Vette. They ride a bit more smoothly too, but they are not intended to be as sporty as the Vette, but more luxurious. We have a 2002 Vette and the 2005 XLR, my wife is 72 and does not have any issues getting in and out of either. she...

Leather Seat Dyeing and/or Repro covers

Rexster, Thanks again for info! The seats in my XLR are the same, no cracks, just the usual "wear wrinkles", and is Shale, so shows much more than Black. Was suggested to me by a dealer to dye the seats, to make them look better. Would help with a future trade if I would ever do that. Did you...

Leather Seat Dyeing and/or Repro covers

Rexster, Thanks for additional information. I am thinking using the Seat Dr's dye would be best to start with. Did you dye them in the car then? And how did the dye hold up for you? I would think it should hold up well if the car is not driven daily.

Leather Seat Dyeing and/or Repro covers

Rexster, Thanks for the info! Good you are close by to Richmond in TX ! I will have to give Richmond a call soon. Biggest thing for me to think about would be if I can change the covers myself or not. Another forum member said he did, and it was not so easy, and needed an electric stapler...

Leather Seat Dyeing and/or Repro covers

They have bottoms and backs for both sides. Will add up to about $1500 for all 4 panels. Also been looking at "Seat Doctors", which has Leather Dyes in all colors. My seats are not that bad but would like much nicer if re-dyed or new replacement covers. Adding another $1500 plus paying a shop...

    For Sale 2008 XLR

Rod, Surprised you have not sold it yet. Maybe because miles are not as "low" as people tend to look for in these. The Alpine White/Cashmere is nice combination, and with the chrome wheels/grille, looks even better. Do you have any more recent pictures of the Interior, like showing seats/carpet...

Leather Seat Dyeing and/or Repro covers

I recently sent pictures of my XLR to a small dealer, who had another XLR I was interested in. He thought mine looked nice, but he had just sold the XLR he had. After looking at my pictures, he suggested I check into Dyeing the seats, to make them look much better. Has anyone ever done this, or...

    For Sale 2008 XLR

Rod, Just curious if you sold this yet? I noticed AZ plates in the pictures, but you are in Texas?

    For Sale 2008 XLR

Rod, Love the Alpine White XLR's! Yours looks really nice. If I had extra funds, would be interested, as you have it at a good price. Would have to sell mine first to be able to afford it. Too many cars now, and I don't want to go into debt, as getting close to retirement! Good luck, hope you...

    2007 Raven/ Ebony “V”

Sounds like a nice purchase! Post some pics of it when you get chance. I would love to "upgrade" to a V model but would involve having to sell one of my other cars unfortunately! Maybe someday soon, but not ready to give up older resto mods I have had for 25-45 years. Wife not ready to give up...

    New Member

Welcome Bigbizz! Good to see another Southeast PA person with an XLR! Post some pics of the car when you get it, the Gold is a nice color and do not see many of them. Cobra and Mustang sound nice too. I wanted to look at a Goldmist 2006 that was for sale in Fla while I was working there for a...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Festus: Thanks for comments on grille! Yes, I liked the 2009 wheels first time I saw them. I got lucky and found another forum member in NY that had a set and drove up to get them. Much nicer than the std 7 spokes with clear coating over polished. I sure wish mine would not have had the plate...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

Here is before & after with front plate bracket and std grille. Blacked out the grille with MarHyde Black Satin paint. Looks much better with Silver body color than with the silver grille (IMO). Added 2009 Platinum wheels too. What state are you in Festus, where you do not need a front plate...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Festus: Agreed on the heat gun and interior parts, mine is still pretty hot on low. I used my heat gun on the front bumper of XLR when I took off the UGLY front plate holder (no front plate needed in PA). The screws holding it on had pulled out the cover. I used the heat gun and some nylon bar...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

Festus, Thanks much for the Video link! Is very helpful to see where the clips are and what is behind the console and radio panels. Like you said, pry tools are helpful, I will have to get some. My body guy gave me a tip for removing parts like bumpers and said sometimes they heat the clips up...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Festus: Thanks much for pry tool info, will have to get some from Harbor Freight. Let us know how the Backup camera wiring goes (did you follow factory harness on trunk hinges). I ordered two systems for my other vehicles from Crutchfield and worked out well. Will have to check into it for my...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

Thanks to both for the pics! Looks like a LOT of wiring behind the console and radio! Hopefully the Metra kit has the correct adaptor to plug into the factory harness? Pry tools come from Eastwood or similar vendor?

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Luluone: Thanks for info and pics, good to know! For you and others doing this yourself, did you have any problems getting the face plate or console covers off without clips breaking? I am concerned about taking these off and having the clips or plastic break. Any special tools needed, or just...

Replaced Radio/Navigation unit in my 2009

@Festus : Looks nice! Please share some other photos once you get it done and let us know what Pioneer unit you put in and how it works. I may tackle this next year on mine. Thanks
