Ah. No, I don't think so, nothing that matters too much. That looks like part of the clip mechanism for the engine cover. There is another one further forward in your picture, with the ball head on it. Check the underside of the cover and see if it lines up.
Sounds like PCV.
Conventional induction (I can't speak for SC).
On the right bank (your left when you are looking from the front), there is a hose which goes to #8's induction (at the back on your right, driver's side). If this is missing, you will get a serious vacuum leak into #8.
On the...
I can't speak for this unit. You need the pcmcia card which covers Cadillac (which IIRC is included in the N. American GM pcmcia card). GM made a series of different pcmcia cards for different regions. Just check with the seller. They have been known to throw in the correct card FOC just by...
Thanks Micky
Well, you tried. Sorry for the tardy reply, I've been busy.
I'm going to work on the basis of 10 degrees and 85 lb/ft (max both, which ever comes first).
From memory it is a very simple, very cheap metal piece. GM have been using this simple clip and 'nut' for years, calling it a nut is going a bit far, it is a flatish 'U' shaped bit of metal (clips over both sides of the frame) with a hole and a twist to it which engages/catches the thread.
Hello Micky
Back at #16 above you said: "ill have to do a littke research andcask someone that knows more than me if you can actuall depend on that."
Did you ever get a reply or find out more?
Very many thanks
What code are you getting? Why do you want to swap both? The throttle body position should track the throttle position. You are getting a warning that the throttle body position is different from the throttle position, which suggests the throttle body might be sticking or a wiring fault perhaps.
From memory they are a very standard screw fitting, but must be short or they will damage wiring. Max half an inch long/10mm? I would guess at 4mm, bit over an 1/8. (1/8=3mm). You can check just by looking and identifying the clip they screw into. I'll try to remember to look at mine some time.
Once again, thanks very much Micky.
The question I have outstanding, is roughly what is the torque to deliver the fourth stage of HB tightening.
It starts at a torque of 30 Nm (22 lb/ft) (stage 1), then stage 2 is +60 degrees, stage 3 is + 60 degrees and stage 4 is +60 degrees. Ie a total 180...
Thanks Micky.
I'll look out for any information you can provide. I have a work colleague with a high-end Snap-On torque wrench which can do both torque and angle, he says I can borrow it! With your data I'll have something to set it too.
Quote: "I've got a parts car ill be removing the intake and a head off of in the next couple days"
Micky, can I ask a favor if I may?
Before you take the heads off, please could you get a torque wrench and keep increasing the torque setting until the head bolts just start to tighten, then tell...
Micky
Once again, you are a mine of useful information.
Agree, a useful test would be to get an airline and hold pressure for an extended period on #8. Monitor coolant levels.
The carbon monoxide test came up with an easy pass.
Ok, run hot. Yes, this might be the history. Unknown to me...
Thanks Micky
Your suggestion re re-torquing the head bolts: Is that a generic suggestion or have you known that work on a N* motor?
All excellent advice. I can rule out: plugs, coil packs and injectors. And fuel pump!.
The misfire is for a max of 10 seconds on cold start. Long enough to...
The ignition switches do fail. Pressing the bottom half of the switch and get a crank and engine start is indicative of multiple problems. Suggest replace ignition switch. Do a search here, the topic came up moderately recently.
The brake switch is more complex than you might expect and has...
Assuming the key fobs were working until you changed the key fob battery, make sure you put the key fob battery in the right way up.
Make sure the key fob batteries are very clean and the contacts are also clean.
Do you have a VOM? Make sure the key fob new batteries are working. It sometimes...
