Maybe the wires are reversed on your sending units?

    Fuel system diagnosis

My clone Tech 2 arrived over the weekend and so far it seems to be functioning well. I found it pretty funny just how large this 25 year-old technology is... anyways, below is the reading I have on the fuel sending units. As you can see both seem to be reading correctly at nearly full fuel...

    Fuel system diagnosis

Does this look like the screen (taken from a youtube video for another vehicle) I should navigate to once my Tech 2 arrives in order to get an idea of what's going on with the fuel system? Or is there other diagnostic info I should navigate to?

    Fuel system diagnosis

Well I decided to order the Chinese Tech 2 clone. Fingers crossed... and we'll see what it reveals with the RH sending unit.

    Fuel system diagnosis

Thanks Mickey for the additionnal info. Based on XLRlist's comment about the RH tank not being able to fail to fill, I was doubting myself and decided to double check my observations last night. In the last few years I haven't been putting many miles on the vehicle, so to avoid fuel getting too...

    Fuel system diagnosis

Thanks for the tips Mickey! I have a few follow-up questions for you if you don't mind: Do you typically replace both LH and RH fuel assemblies when you do this job? Or is there a diagnostic procedure you follow to isolate one side or the other? Or even subcomponents? I've watched a few videos...

    Fuel system diagnosis

Thanks for the reply. A Tech-2 would be quite useful in this situation to validate the RH sending unit voltage level. Unfortunately that's one big purchase I've avoided all these years. The vehicle has been garage kept and rarely parked on the street so I think it's unlikely someone...

    Fuel system diagnosis

Hey y'all, I'm looking for some opinions on what parts I should plan to replace on the fuel system (i.e. both LH and RH fuel assemblies, one or the other, or any serviceable components). What I'm observing is that when the fuel gauge reads near empty, I'm only able to fill ~9 gallons until no...

    Draining the gas tanks

Old thread, same topic though... does anyone know for sure if you can drop the XLR fuel tanks without removing the rear suspension and transmission (despite what the manual says)? It looks like this can be done on Corvettes, albeit with cramming your hands into tight spaces above the tank to...

Help Finding a Coolant Leak - Pics

Quite possible, but I did not observe any noticeable leak while idling in the garage for 15 min or so as I inspected the rad. Granted this is not the same as driving, but is really beside the point. A pressure test while cold (really just not boiling hot) is the best diagnosis.

Help Finding a Coolant Leak - Pics

Thanks & Look Back to Posts 10 & 12 Thanks onalaska! I may take you up on that someday, though I live all the way down in the city by Memorial Park, so its still quite a hike up to Coldspring. Take another look at posts 10 and 12. Post 10 shows the surge tank - where you attach the pressure...

Help Finding a Coolant Leak - Pics

Trans Fluid Check I got around to checking the trans fluid level today. It was 5-6 oz low from the rad replacement. The vehicle needs to be level, so without access to a lift, I used 4 jackstands. This is not the safest thing to do, you must be very careful when positioning the stands, and...

Help! $2800 wasted on shocks; rear driver side too low; electrical problems caused the dealership

Gizmo can chime in here, but I found that putting the vehicles weight on the spring flexed it only a minor amount, not providing enough clearance for bolt removal. Jacking directly on the spring produced a small amount of flex, then the entire vehicle just started rising. If you think about it...

Help! $2800 wasted on shocks; rear driver side too low; electrical problems caused the dealership

Ya return it to original position. It doesn't torque down, it goes through the spring. I imagine bearing grease is fine.

Help! $2800 wasted on shocks; rear driver side too low; electrical problems caused the dealership

I think you can get a socket on the top of the bolt straight away, and back it off enough (with the car jacked on the frame and wheel off of course) to squirt some grease in there. There's not enough room to remove the bolt, but should be able to create a bit of a gap between the pad and LCA.

    Transmission Temperature - DIC Possible?

What's the name/brand of the Bluetooth unit you bought? Are you pretty happy with it so far?

Help! $2800 wasted on shocks; rear driver side too low; electrical problems caused the dealership

I had same problem... damn stealership Don't get me started on stealerships. Your experience is all too common, and is the reason I avoid stealerships whenever possible. The are basically professional b/s 'ers that prey people's lack of knowledge. Now, to your suspension issue... This is a...

    Transmission Temperature - DIC Possible?

Has anyone figured out if it's possible to display the transmission temperature on the DIC (instrument cluster)? :dunno: I'll be doing a fluid level check which requires the fluid temp to be in a certain range. Using a thermometer probe will be difficult if even possible. The owner's manual does...
