I think the problem is fixed. I replaced the starter button assembly after I couldn't shut the car down. It's been 3 months now and I've had no issues, the car is running completely normally.
My install used the wiring harness adapter from Crutchfield (part of their install kit). This uses the factory amp, no aftemarket amps are used. My cruise control works normally.
Just finished installing a Kenwood DDX8906S in my 07 XLR-V. I purchased through Crutchfield and bought the install kit which included that plastic front panel. I used the supplied wiring harnesses but did not use the plastic panel, instead used the factory eucalyptus wood panel and installed the...
Well, after a period of a month or so of no issues with the car, the intermittent engine quitting issue occurred again. The engine quit 3 times within 5 minutes after leaving the house. Each time the engine restarted normally when I pressed the the start switch. The car then acted fine and after...
I was talking to an '05 XLR owner who had a problem with the car not shutting down - he would press the off part of the ignition button and his car would not shut down. The fix was a new ignition switch. Makes me wonder if that could be the possible cause of sudden engine shut down - bad or...
My first thought was the problem possibly being caused by a faulty engine control module. Please update as to the status of the fix after you get the engine light sorted out.
Similar problem although I've had no issues restarting the car. I have purchased a ODB-2 bluetooth scanner (BlueDriver) that logs vehicle data on my Iphone while I drive. If the problem happens again I'm hoping this logged data will provide a clue as to what happened.
I've had a similar issue with my '07 XLR-V ( engine quits intermittently). I still haven't pinpointed the problem although the issue hasn't reoccurred in the last 5 weeks or so. What i have done is purchase a blue-tooth scanner (BlueDriver) that I've plugged into my ODB-2 port under the dash...
Just the engine. I'll be driving, the car running perfectly normally, no sputtering, cutting out, etc. The engine just quits, a "SHIFT TO PARK" message appears in the drivers information screen, and now that I think about it the radio quits. So I pull over, stop, shift to park, and push the...
Thanks Ian, I will look at those areas when I get back with my car. I'm not sure about the driver side door ground and what you were referring to about the 'post' and where that ground is located on the door or door area.
I agree, I think it's an electrical issue. No, I don't have a tech 2. I did check the fuse box under the hood and found a number of fuses and relays that did not seem to be completely seated, I felt some give when I pushed down firmly. Since then I have had the car out for a few 20 and 30 minute...
I just checked for codes and there are none. The car runs perfectly normal, doesn't cut out, run rough or give any indication that anything is amiss. It just quits very suddenly like someone hit the 'off' switch. Yes, checking all the grounds sounds like the place to start.
The engine shuts down but everything else appears normal, instrument read outs, lights, radio is still on, etc. It appears to be only the engine that's affected - shutting down. Speed has been as low as just a few miles an hour (backing out of the driveway), to 40 -45 mph cruising down the...
