    Help! Won't start

My ’06 Base model was throwing codes, too. Before I was going to have to face an expensive sojourn to my dealer (1-hour drive away, and pricey), I checked on this site and found a reference to loose bolts on the intake manifold. Trying to get a socket ON those bolts was a super challenge; I...

Help! Any XLR techs near Los Angeles?

I really appreciate the info. My '06 Base model came down w/ ECL flu, a couple of weeks ago (71K miles). P0300 code. I used to be a regular on this forum, but have been away for some time. However, I (fortunately) DID recall the reports of loose intake manifold bolts, so I checked them and...

    Intermittent Starting

Exact Problem; Now solved! I had the exact same experience, with my '06 Base. The "Press Brake to Start" came up after switching to ACC mode and back. I tried it (without even pressing the Start button), and it worked! Got me home. After the obligatory battery charge step (same result) I...

Important! ATTENTION ALL! XLR CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

Sorry to see that you sold your "V", Mike. Just so you know, your original rims live on, and still look great. Tim

    Do you see XLRs??

Who'd have thought? Was chatting w/ a golf buddy, at the Pueblo West Desert Hawk GC, and a nice guy in a YUGE truck stopped by and asked me what year my XLR was. Turned out, he also has a '06 base (blue) and he also loves it. We chatted for a few minutes, and he took off, but not before...

    Help! P1101 code

Always start with the simple and cheap! Let's start simple and cheap. How about the intake air filters? Over-oiled after-market filters (e.g., K&N's) have been known to mess up even a new MAF sensor. If this is the case, it may need a thorough clean-out of the "plumbing", too. Tim

    TOP Story

Totally agree. Taking advantage of unaware customers, not to mention the unnecessary replacement and trashing of still-good and SCARCE parts, is awful!!! As a former motorsports dealer, I typically advised customers to try the inexpensive ways first, and it cured the problems in almost every...

Wanted! Gargo divider plastic pin left side.

Hi. Just maybe... I know you're from Finland, so there is just a chance that you may have searched for "Gargo" (as in the title of this thread), instead of "Cargo" (which is correct). Those searches tend to be pretty literal. Just a thought. :dunno: BTW, I'm still in awe that you found...

    Help! Ignition cutting offf?

FWIW, I've seen bad gas make the engine intermittently die from idle; e.g., small amount of water in the gas. Try running a shot of STA-BIL or Gumout Gas Treatment through it. :dunno: Tim

Important! 2004 - 2009 Cadillac XLR: Service Bulletin: Special Coverage Adjustment – Airbag Light On

I agree w/ Cubby that this soldering strategy is a helluva "kludge" of a fix. Also, my dealer says that there will be a change to this bulletin to extend the 10-year limit. This one is DOA for a lot of XLRs, including mine. Tim

    Expensive hydraulic parts -no more!

This is starting to have the earmarks of a happy ending. :party I'm blown away that a guy in Finland could come up w/ what seems to be a great shop in Oregon. Sometimes, I guess the Internet isn't just all about terrorists and porn. That shop is likely to earn a lot more XLR business, IMO...

Should I keep the original engine?

Actually, Mike, it's used all the time. I usually wait until the streets are clear, but not always. It actually does surprisingly well in the snow & ice. Light touch required! I learned to drive in northern Minnesota, and the roads stayed snow-packed there most all winter. Nowadays, they...

Should I keep the original engine?

I'll go out on a limb here, Mike, and guess that it likely was the "sparkles". Sorry for that. Nothin' going on here X4 the boring Pro Bowl, and watching the snow start to accumulate. ;)

    Hello from The Desert

Welcome to the forum, Cadzilla. Hey, Patrick!!! Looks like you have company. :blinzel: I'll likely be bringing my "Daphne" back to the desert in March, when we return from Colorado. Maybe we can all link up for coffee. Lots of XLRs here in the desert. Tim

    Headers & Cats installed

Just for my edification, what is it that precludes their fitting on the 2004-2006 base models? :dunno: Tim

    Help! Low Oil Level display

Memories... I remember WAY back when my folks borrowed my Grandma's pretty new '51 Pontiac for our vacation "out west" from Minnesota to Montana. My Grandma NEVER drove over 45mph, even on the highways. [One time, I rode with her from Grand Rapids to Coleraine on the 2-lane Hwy 169. Did I...

    Definitive Battery Recommendations

Rex, we have had several threads on this subject, and I sympathize with you on the difficulty of picking the "right" battery. I have the same model/year XLR as you, and the Optima Yellow Top D35 works splendidly. It's the "deep cycle" version of the Red Top, and I have had NO issues with it...

    Cam position sensor location

I'm glad to hear that there is a way to "learn" this CKP info. I'm woefully ignorant of the Tech 2 capabilities, but it did seem likely that such a procedure existed. I'm thankful (time-of-year comment) that my "Daphne" is running like a watch [knocking wood as I type]. I do hope it helps...

    Cam position sensor location

Good news on fixing the cam position code. I'm not familiar with the Tech-II, so I don't know if it has a "learn" facility, when it comes to the crank position. It seems that there has to be some way to do that. Sure would explain the rough running, if the timing's hit or miss. :chuckle...
