I own a 1993 Mary Kay Allante, one of 17 made. Despite what most people think until they see one, the very pale pink color is actually quite nice-and of all the cars I've owned I get the most complements on this one. I was looking at finding a Mary Kay XLR and was able to get some information from some contacts I have in the industry.

First, the same rumors on the Mary Kay XLR are the same ones on the Allante. It was said the Allante was shipped to someone in Michigan to paint the car. If you have ever seen one, you would realize that couldn't be true. They would have to take the car 100% apart, as the Mountain Laurel Pink paint is everywhere-under the seats, behind the dash, in the engine compartment, etc. That would just be cost prohibitive. Later found some info how the Pininfarina factory in Italy did not want to paint their car pink, but were convinced by Cadillac they had to. I haven't seen a pink XLR in person, but it would be easy enough to tell if the car was taken apart and repainted.

The winner of the car actually only wins a one year free lease on the car. At the end they can choose to keep it and pay the price, or turn it back in. Those turned back in are repainted, if they keep it it stays pink. I found one XLR that was repainted black. And the winner doesn't get the car because they are a top salesperson-they have to recruit people to sell, and this group as a whole have to be the top salespeople, and maintain the sales for a period of time. Also of note a variety of cars are offered to the winners depending one what level. In 1993 there were over 50 cars given away, but only 17 Allantes.

I was able to get some built information on the cars, and in 2009 there were eight Mary Kay XLRs. Here are the VINs and AutoCheck reports of where they were sold and last registered:

Interiors were Lt Cashmere on six of them, one Lt Cashmere/Ebony, and one Black Leather.

Six were made 3/4/09, the other two 3/5/09

One was made to Canadian specs.

I'll try to se what I can find on the 2007 and 2008 cars. I don't know if they made them the other years, though.

I have a few Mary Kay friends and live just outside of Burlington Ontario. I have never seen the car in question on the road but who knows? I check with my MK friend and see if she know who owned it. Advise.

I am almost sure I saw one listed a while back at the salvage yard and then again when looking for some parts one showed up at a junk yard
