    Trunk Relay

For now, the cleaning of the pads has worked. Nothing available from GM. It no longer opens randomly and does not open when doors are opened. 1 hr shop time . Fingers crossed. gb

    Trunk Relay

I have taken apart and cleaned the Door Switches which is similar I expect to the Trunk Squeeze Switch. Copper contacts imbedded in rubber as I recall were in the Door switches. Squeezing them puts the 2 panels in contact with each other completing the circuit. Mine is a 2008 model. The tech...

    Trunk Won't Stay Open

The one on the passenger side is plainly visible. Amazon for $90 Canadian. Go to Top Hydraulics Utah and email attn Klaus who will walk you through the difficult procedure. Two Tiny STOP bolts to be removed. Drivers side is hell. You need a second person plus Prop rod to do the job.

    Trunk Relay

I have a different issue regarding Trunk Lid Operation. I changed the 2 Gas Struts with some difficulty. For awhile sometime later, the Trunk would open at random times when parked. It would also open sometimes when I opened either Door. GM Dealer removed and Cleaned the Trunk Switch. I was...

    Cadillac XLR Parts Sources

My GM Dealer in Burlington Ontario Canada was very pleased with East Coast Auto Parts in N. Carolina. 877 914 4800. 2 day delivery on XLR parts. Apparently they bought a quantity of parts and have many parts vehicles.

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

I had a similar problem and cured it by cycling the Door LOCK rocker switch on the Drivers door. Presently the trunk opens when I press the button to open either door!!!!

    Trunk Lid opens Randomly

I recently replaced the Gas Struts on my XLR Trunk Lid and also a Rear Bumper. Previously LId would creep closed. Klaus at Top Hydraulics recommended the fix. Not a nice job. Now, with no Key Fobs nearby the Trunk will open with no Owner action. It will also open sometimes when a door is...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

I had trouble with the inside door switches. What cured mine was to cycle the lock/unlock button on the Drivers door a few times. Worked for me!! Cleaning the Pass. door switch contacts also worked for me.

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

When the Roof is stowed, the Trunk Lid will stay up when button is pushed. When Roof is Up, Trunk Lid will not stay open. If I prop it open for 20 minutes or so, it will then stay up. If I press the button to open Drivers Door, the Trunk begins to close! Frustrating. It does Not close if I...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

Obviously it is NOT a strut problem.

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

MickeyT; If I understand you correctly, the bottom connector for the Gas strut just prys off with a long screwdriver? To install new ones, does the bottom connector just pop back in place when pryed? The 4 volume set does not show Strut replacement as far as I can find. Does the clip need to...

2008 XLR Neither door will open from inside or outside?

On my 2008 there is only one Gas Strut on each side. My findings to date. Battery fully charged. Trunk opens fully and immediately begins to close. Pump Reservoir is at Maximum level. I propped the trunk open to check the trunk access for 20+ minutes. When I removed the prop, the Trunk stayed...

    Parasitic Battery Drain

It is very difficult to hold the Trunk Lid up and I don't think new Struts will do it, but I will find out. Thanks for the info and suggestions.
